New Cash for Clunkers Program Targets Household Appliances

Early this year, the federal government will launch a cash for clunkers program that offers rebates for purchases of new efficient appliances. The success of the cash for clunkers  model with the automobile industry is now spreading to a new arena -appliances . In much the same way that the automobile program was designed to reward Americans for buying newer and more efficient vehicles in exchange for old gas guzzlers, the new program will provide small rebates to people who are replacing old appliances with new ones.

American Cancer Society -Relay for Life – Makes Plea At Recent Bayonne City Council Meeting

gail-godesky-new-addressing-bay-city-council1At a recent Bayonne City Council meeting Gail Godesky Publicity Chairwoman & Sponsorship Chair for the American Cancer Society’s -Relay for Life addressed the Bayonne City Council in asking for the fee to be waived for the use of Ahern’s Veteran Stadium in Bayonne for the 201o Bayonne Relay For Life -which is tentatively scheduled for June 11- 12th, 2010

In her address to the Bayonne City Council, Ms. Godesky had this to say after addressing each of the council-members in attendance…

 “My name is Gail Godesky; I am born and raised in a great city-Bayonne. As some of you know my sister Lori Starke passed away at 49 years old on February 22nd, 2008 and my mom Lorraine Godesky at the age of  77 passed away February 17th, 2009 from the terrible disease we call cancer for lack of a better word and from a disease that kills and not quietly but rather angrily.

Cancer shows no preference-it has struck old, young, mothers, father’s, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives and dear friends.

Holy Rosary Church Downtown Jersey City to Celebrate the First Mass of Christmas at Midnight In Latin

Holy Rosary  is  the Oldest Established Italian Parish in New Jersey

Holy Rosary Church has announced plans to celebrate a Traditional Solemn High Mass on Christmas Eve at Midnight. 

The Traditional Mass or the Extraordinary Form as Pope Benedict XVI identifies it in his Apostolic Letter “Summorum Pontificum” is celebrated in Latin according to the Missal of 1962.  This missal was issued under Blessed John XXIII and remained in use until some years after the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council. 

A prelude of seasonal music by Herbeck, Praetorius and Victoria will be performed by the Holy Rosary Choir preceding the mass at 11:15 pm.  During the mass the choir under the direction of Harold Bott will sing the Mass in G by Schubert accompanied by organ and strings. The Holy Rosary Schola will sing the Propers of the Mass in Gregorian chant from the Liber Usualis. Tammy Blanchard Co-stars in new Lifetime Movie-AMISH GRACE

tammy-b-headshot1Tammy Blanchard co-stars with Kimberly Williams-Paisley, & Matt Letscher in Amish Grace,  Lifetime Movie Network’s tele-movie which explores the aftermath of the 2006 schoolhouse shooting in a Pennsylvania Amish community. The movie has begun production December 2009 in Los Angeles.

Ms. Blanchard’s role is that of Marie Roberts; widow of Charles Carl Roberts the shooter of the Pennsylvania schoolhouse.

The Nickle Mine, Pennsylvania schoolhouse shootings received world wide  attention not only for the depth of the tragedy but because of the reaction of the Amish leaders’ who forgave the shooter and his widow wife.

Ms. Blanchards acting roles include: In 2009 co- starred in  “Rabbit Hole” about a  happy couple who’s life is turned upside down after their young son dies in an accident. Co-starring with Nicole Kidman as Ms. Kidman’s sister in David Lindsay-Abaire Pulitizer Prize winning play brought to the big screen. Also appearng in the film is Aaron Echhart, Diane Wiest and Giancarlo Esposito. A 2010 release of the film is in the works.  Feeling that pinch, from lack of funds? In mid-December, the Jersey City Free Public Library will offer a break in the form of Fine Amnesty to all Library users.   

For only two weeks – Monday, December 7th through Saturday, December 12th AND Monday, December 14th through Saturday, December 19th  – all fees and fines will be forgiven when the library system receives all library books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and other library materials. The New Jersey Comedy Festival Brings Student Comedians to The Stress Factory Comedy Club

microphone The third annual New Jersey Comedy Festival (NJCF) and The Stress Factory Comedy Club in New Brunswick have teamed up to invite New Jersey college students to perform at one of the Garden State’s most well known comedy clubs on Wednesday, December 9 at 8 p.m.
