PLAYWRIGHT’S WORKSHOP III

will present workshop performances of short works by Polaris North member playwrights, directed by PN members, and performed by PN member actors and special guest.

Polaris North is located at 245 W. 29th Street, 4th Floor, between 7th and 8th  Avenues, NYC.  

This evening of One-Acts runs one weekend only:  March 11, 12, at 8:00pm and March 13 at 7:00pm. 

There will be a reception after each show. This is a free event but donations will be happily received at the door.

Actress Tammy Blanchard Broadway Bound as Heddy La Rue in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

Broadway actress Tammy Blanchard starts performances on February 26th at the Al Hirshfield Theater, 302 West 45th Street, New York, (212 239-6200) in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying starring Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, and actor John Laroquette. Opening night is set for March 27th, 2011.

Ms.Blanchard, a Hudson County resident will star as seductive secretary Hedy La Rue.

This is Ms. Blanchard’s second trip to Broadway having appeared as Louise in Gypsy in 2003 starring Bernadette Peters. Ms. Blanchard, a 2003 Tony Nominee for her performance also won a Theater World Award for her role.

Ms. Blanchard also won an Emmy playing a young Judy Garland in Me and My Shadows.

Currently she can be seen in the film Rabbit Hole as “Izzy” Nicole Kidman’s troubled sister.

In 2011 expect to see Ms.Blanchard in Moneyball starring Brad Pitt and in Union Square, The Music Never Stopped and Certainty.

Ms. Blanchard’s other film and televison credits include: The Good Shepherd, Cadillac Records, Amish, Grace, Sybil, Deadline, Ramen Girl and Bella.

That the everyday lives of “common” men and women should be so compelling and moving will  surprise and inspire anyone who has ever punched a time clock.  Based on Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American  workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the men and women the world  so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the parking lot attendant, the  waitress, the millworker, the mason, the trucker, the fireman, the  housewife, just to name a few. It’s a highly original look at the American landscape that’s simply impossible to forget.

The Theater Company (TTC) opens with the Broadway musical RENT on February 3, 2010, but instead of just telling the story of seven friends dealing with love, loss and AIDS, the company is also helping to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Hudson Pride Connections – two organizations whose mission is to assist in the fights against HIV/AIDS and bridge gaps for gay communities. Tammy Blanchard Co-stars in new Lifetime Movie-AMISH GRACE

tammy-b-headshot1Tammy Blanchard co-stars with Kimberly Williams-Paisley, & Matt Letscher in Amish Grace,  Lifetime Movie Network’s tele-movie which explores the aftermath of the 2006 schoolhouse shooting in a Pennsylvania Amish community. The movie has begun production December 2009 in Los Angeles.

Ms. Blanchard’s role is that of Marie Roberts; widow of Charles Carl Roberts the shooter of the Pennsylvania schoolhouse.

The Nickle Mine, Pennsylvania schoolhouse shootings received world wide  attention not only for the depth of the tragedy but because of the reaction of the Amish leaders’ who forgave the shooter and his widow wife.

Ms. Blanchards acting roles include: In 2009 co- starred in  “Rabbit Hole” about a  happy couple who’s life is turned upside down after their young son dies in an accident. Co-starring with Nicole Kidman as Ms. Kidman’s sister in David Lindsay-Abaire Pulitizer Prize winning play brought to the big screen. Also appearng in the film is Aaron Echhart, Diane Wiest and Giancarlo Esposito. A 2010 release of the film is in the works. Carnegie Hall “Just Too Marvelous For Words” For Two Talented Youngsters From Bayonne, New Jersey

carneigehallpicture” Just Too Marvelous For Words” was how two talented youngsters from Bayonne where feeling after being two of the one hundred performers from sixteen states to join Camp Broadway in A Johnny Mercer Centennial Concert on Friday Nov 20 at Carnegie Hall. 

 Taylor Purzycki, Horace Mann and Marc Wright, School 14 students have had the chance to personally experience and perform Johnny Mercer’s music this week at Carnegie Hall. The Mercer concert is the latest event celebrating the late, great lyricist and composer.
