New 550+ Seat Venue in Jersey City to Focus on both Live Performances and Continued Inner City Youth Education
Mayor Steven M. Fulop and the New Jersey Symphony announced today the renowned Symphony’s relocation to a new state-of-the-art, 44,000-square-foot theater in Jersey City’s downtown Powerhouse Arts District.
Today’s announcement marks an important new chapter for the Symphony and Jersey City, offering a dedicated permanent location that will serve the local community and contribute to the Symphony’s ongoing activities across the state.
On Thursday, November 2, Mayor Jimmy Davis presented a proclamation to Alexa Noone, a Bayonne resident, who was crowned recently as Miss New Jersey USA 2018. That title makes her a contender for Miss USA 2018. The proclamation calls upon all residents “to congratulate her, and to wish her the best as she carries out the duties of Miss New Jersey USA 2018.†Ms. Noone said that she will be assisting various charities and doing volunteer work during her year as Miss New Jersey USA. She expects to participate in various events in Bayonne and across the state. She told City officials that the pageant organization has booked her to make appearances at several ceremonies and award events around New Jersey. Now through August 30th, Free Weekly Outdoor Concerts Attract a Variety of Performers to the Park for a Unique Outside Music Experience Surrounded by Neighborhood Residents
JERSEY CITY –Mayor Steven M. Fulop and the Office of Cultural Affairs invite everyone to Berry Lane Park for a variety of great music under the sun all summer long. Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the City of Bayonne will present the Summer Sounds by the Bay concerts Wednesdays, from July 12 through August 23, at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. The concerts will be held at the amphitheater on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park, which is located between Avenue A and Newark Bay. The schedule is as follows:

East side (entering 14A): renovation of existing Toll Utility Building continues.
Ramps between the Toll Plaza and the Hudson County Extension (HCE)
Local street level work at Garfield, Avenue C and JFK Boulevard bridges will resume in the summer of 2017. This work will be supported by Jersey City and Bayonne Police as needed.
During the evenings of 06/29/17, 8:00PM to 5:00AM, traffic impacts are expected on the ramps to and from the Hudson County Extension and the Interchange 14A Toll Plaza for asphalt paving operations. This work will be supported by the New Jersey State Police.
Avenue E / Proposed Roundabout
New roadway construction on Avenue E near 53rd Street continues.
Connector Bridge (Bridge from the Toll Plaza to Port Jersey Boulevrd)

Ramp roadway construction continues.
Ramp structure construction to southbound Route 440 continues.

New ramp construction continues.
Retaining wall construction continues.
Bridge deck construction on the bridge structure over Pulaski Street continues.
During the week of 07/17/17, nighttime detours of the southbound Route 440 Jughandle at Pulaski Street will be required for approximately one (1) week in support of bridge steel erection. Work will be supported by Bayonne Police.

Culture flourishes in Hudson with art, music and dance performances happening throughout its cities. We also have some terrific live theater groups putting on shows for adults and kids and the new season is now kicking off, like J CITY Theater’s production of APARTMENT 3A. Along with J CITY Theater, the Attic Ensemble in Jersey City is celebrating 43 years as a community theater and the Mile Square Theatre in Hoboken opens its season with a wink to the kids in its production of the Broadway play A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD.

CRAZY DOES IT ON LIVE TV
Producing Director of the J CITY Theater Clay Cockrell and his wife Sandy Cockrell, who is the company’s Artistic Director are thrilled to be back on the boards after almost a year-long hiatus brought on by Hurricane Sandy. (See our interview with Clay Cockrell following this story.)
This marks J CITY Theater’s 8th season of presenting popular and contemporary plays on the stage of the theater which is located in the basement of St. Michael’s RC Church facing Hamilton Park in Jersey City. The company recently opened its season with APARTMENT 3A, a romantic comedy about a public television employee who loses her faith in God, men and public broadcasting. As the heroine takes a ride on the romance rollercoaster, she eventually has an on-camera meltdown during a pledge drive which leads to pandemonium and hilarity. The play runs through Oct. 26 and features Sandy Cockrell, Stephen Hope, Randall Marquez and Clay Cockrell. Stage Manager is Jack Vandewark and Tech Director is Nick Probst; Jacquelyn Bird is choreographer.
