Students Get Head Start from Bayonne Junior Chamber and CarePoint Health

BAYONNE, NJ – About two dozen Bayonne High School students received instruction about applying for internships and jobs, as well as other business skills needed after graduation, at a special human resources workshop held for them.

The students are members of the Bayonne Junior Chamber of Commerce, a collaborative venture between the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce and the Bayonne School District. The program is supported by CarePoint Health and other chamber members.

McNair Academic High School Senior named Regeneron Science Talent Search Finalist

Jackson Weaver to Compete for Top Awards in the nation’s most prestigious Science and Math Competition

Mc Nair Student Jackson Weaver A McNair Academic HS senior, Jackson Weaver, has been named a finalist in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. Forty finalists, from a pool of 300 Semifinalists and over 1,700 entrants, were selected based on the scientific rigor and world-changing potential of their research projects.  He is the second finalist from McNair in the last three years with Eswar Anandapadmanaban having been named a 2015 finalist.

The author of “The Other Wes Moore,” a Phi Theta Kappa member and OWN TV host, will speak at the College on Thursday evening, February 19; the event is open to the community.

February 11, 2015, Jersey City, NJ – The Hudson County Community College (HCCC) 2014-2015 Lecture Series will continue this month when Wes Moore, the author of The New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-seller, The Other Wes Moore, will appear at the College.  The event will be held Thursday, February 19 at 6 p.m. in the HCCC Culinary Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City – just two blocks from the Journal Square PATH Transportation Center. It is open to the entire Hudson County community, and there is no charge for admission. However, tickets are necessary and must be obtained in advance. Microbusinesses not only provide jobs for the entrepreneurs who establish them, but they also contribute to the local tax base, directly impacting the quality of life in their communities.  Last Thursday, Rising Tide Capital, a Jersey City nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs to start businesses in underserved communities,  graduated 146 entrepreneurs from its nationally-recognized Community Business Academy.

Proceeds from the event will be dedicated to scholarships for deserving students, faculty development programs, and the College’s physical expansion.
