Mayor Healy & State Officials Announce Success of ‘Live Where You Work’ Program in Jersey City

Over $1M in Mortgage Loans Secured for Jersey City Residents

Healy, along with the New Jersey Housing & Mortgage Finance Agency Executive Director Marge Della Vecchia announce that the City’s participation in the state’s Live Where You Work program has resulted in over $1,000,000 in mortgage loans secured for those wishing to own homes in Jersey City.

New Jersey’s Live Where You Work program is a special home mortgage incentive program that provides a low-interest 30 or 40-year fixed-rate first mortgage for people who will live and work in Jersey City. The program also provides Smart Start down payment assistance in an amount equal to 5 percent of the first mortgage loan for qualified purchasers. Jersey city’s -Historic Downtown Special Improvement District

HDSID is a public-private partnership through which property owners and business owners have a direct impact on Historic Downtown Jersey City neighborhoods and their development. HDSID works with local businesses, property owners and neighborhood associations in conjunction with the City government to promote the area, improve the services provided and undertake any and all activity to make Historic Downtown Jersey City a better place to live, work and visit.

Easy Riders JC LLC allows both residents and tourists the opportunity to rent bicycles and explore the Jersey City Waterfront, Liberty State Park and the Statue of Liberty independently or through one of their guided tours. Jersey City to Host 35th Annual Cultural Arts Festival

Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the Municipal Council and the Department of Health & Human Services/Division of Cultural Affairs will kick off the city’s summer cultural calendar with the 35th Annual Cultural Arts Festival on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 1 to 7 p.m. in the Central Railroad Terminal at Liberty State Park. Healy Wins Mayoral Race in Jersey City on First Ballot

mayorhealynJerrimiah Healy has won another term for  Mayor of Jersey City.

 30,657 votes were cast, the incumbent Mayor Healy received a winning 53%percent share of the vote , while his closest opponent Louis Manzo had 26.3 percent. The other candidates Harvey L. Smith received 12.9 percent, Dan Levin 5.6 percent and Phil Webb 2.2 percent. Absentee and provisional ballots have to still be counted, however, the margin  of votes clearly signals Healy the winner on the first ballot.

 It seems as the results came Councilman Steven Fullop has retained his seat in Ward E receiving roughly half of the 4000 plus votes cast in that downtown  ward  race.

Some of the council seats maybe headed for a June run-off as late hour tabulation of votes were still be conducted.

Jersey City’s Mayor Healy and City Council Introduce Marion Greenway Park

marion-and-healy-copyMayor Jerramiah T. Healy, members of the Municipal Council and the Deputy Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey introduced to the community the future Marion Greenway Park, a 32-acre waterfront park, at the foot of Broadway.small-marion2

32-acre waterfront park
to include: • 2 soccer fields • an artificial drill/practice
area • a 1,300 linear foot extension of the Hackensack
River Walkway • a great open lawn that could be used as a
fairgrounds • a mile jogging/walking Path

Port Authority officials will contributeS4 million, as part of their Hudson- Raritan Estuary Resources Program, which accounts for nearly one third of the acquisition cost for the park property,a former Superfund site.
