Holy Rosary Church in Jersey City plans to cool down the August heat with a five-day splash of summer fun known as La Festa Italiana 2022. Starting Wednesday, Aug. 10, and running through Sunday, Aug. 14, from 5 pm-to-1l pm each night, the neighborhood surrounding Holy Rosary Church on 6th & Brunswick Streets will be a fun-filled block party of vendors selling a diversity of delicious dishes and dynamic dance bands playing Top-40 hits that promise families and friends fabulous memories to last a lifetime.

Long Live the Beatles Will Perform in Bayonne’s Summer Sounds by the Bay Concert Wednesday, July 27, 2022

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that Long Live the Beatles will play in Bayonne’s Summer Sounds By the Bay concert series on Wednesday, July 27, at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting.  Long Live the Beatles, the longest-running Beatles show in the country, is an all-live musical event with an incredible, show-stopping impersonation of one of the greatest musical groups of all time.  The show recreates the sights and sounds of the Beatles from 1962 to 1970.

The concert will take place at the amphitheater on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park.  The concert site is located below the foot of West 16th Street, between Avenue A and Newark Bay.

Hudson County Community College New Jersey LicensingCannabis Workshop
This 4-week New Jersey Cannabis Licensing Workshop will provide those looking to enter the NJ cannabis industry with an overview of what it takes to apply for and operate a state-licensed cannabis establishment. This virtual workshop will discuss the history of cannabis federally; the history of cannabis legalization in NJ and the 2022 state and municipal application process for various cannabis licenses. Students can expect to receive an understanding of the do’s and don’ts of application preparedness and what we can expect to see moving forward. Students can also expect to hear from guest speakers who provide support for the cannabis industry and those who successfully operate cannabis businesses.

Bayonne Holds Inauguration, Festivites, and Fireworks Set for July 1, 2022

          Inaugural Chair Jamie Davis, Bayonne’s First Lady, announced plans for the municipal inauguration, related events, and Independence Day fireworks that will take place on Friday, July 1.  Mrs. Davis said, “The 2022 Inaugural Committee and several municipal departments are working together on a day of ceremonies and entertainment that will celebrate the City of Bayonne and American Independence.  We invite the people of Bayonne to come together on this special day.”

          The day’s public events will begin with an Inaugural Mass at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m.  St. Henry’s is located across the street from City Hall at 28th Street and Avenue C.

 Spotlighting the achievements of individuals who are blind, deafblind and visually impaired, the Department of Human Services’ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) announced college scholarships to four blind, deafblind and visually impaired students during a virtual event commemorating Helen Keller DeafBlind Awareness Week in New Jersey.

Bayonne Library Offers Free Afternoon and Evening Summer Movies

            Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Bayonne Public Library is offering a series of free afternoon and evening summer movies on Wednesdays from July 6 through August 31 at 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the O’Connor Gallery on the second floor of the library.  The building is located at 31st Street and Avenue C.  

All of the movies scheduled for the library have been released in the last two years. The films to be shown include movies for adults in the afternoons and films for children and families in the evenings. Youngsters attending the children’s films must be accompanied by an adult.  No children will be admitted for the R-rated movies. 

The following films will be shown on Wednesdays.  They are listed with their dates, ratings, and running times:

Bayonne Division of Recreation Announces the 2022 Summer Sounds by the Bay Concert Series

The Bayonne Division of Recreation has announced the 2022 Summer Sounds By the Bay Concert Series.  Weather permitting, each performance will be begin promptly on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm and held at the amphitheater on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park, which is located between Avenue A and Newark Bay.  The concerts are scheduled for Wednesdays from July 13 through August 17, with August 24 as a rain date.  “We are ready for a great summer.  We have a great lineup of music, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone enjoying the summer nights,” stated Pete Amadeo, Supervisor of Recreation.

The following concerts have been scheduled:

July 13 – Super Transam performs the music of the 1970’s, covering the songs of The Eagles, Hall and Oates, Queen, the Doobie Brothers, Paul McCartney and Wings, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Kiss, Boston, and Journey, among others.

July 20 – The Winslow Eagles Tribute Band celebrates the music of The Eagles.  This powerhouse ensemble creates the live performance of The Eagles and the signature sound that made them one of the most successful musical groups of the ‘70’s. 

July 27 – Long Live the Beatles, the longest-running Beatles show in the country, is an all-live musical event with an incredible, show-stopping impersonation of one of the greatest musical groups of all time.  The show recreates the sights and sounds of the Beatles from 1962 to 1970.

August 3 – AM Gold Yacht Rock is a New York City-based tribute band, performing the adult-contemporary hit songs from the late 1970’s through the mid-1980’s.  They cover the music of such artists as Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Huey Lewis, Christopher Cross, Lionel Richie, and so many more.

August 10 – Lights Out Beach Boys combines the music of the Beach Boys with the smooth moves of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.  Sing along to the West Coast hits while you dance along with the moves created by one of the greatest groups to hit the musical landscape.

August 17 – The Amish Outlaws will surprise the audience constantly and keep everyone guessing as to what they could possibly play next, from Johnny Cash to Jay Z, Lady Gaga to Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre, Pitbull to Elvis Presley, Luke Bryan to Dropkick Murphy, to theme songs from the TV shows they have come to know.

August 24 – This rain date will be used as needed.  Depending on the weather, other rain dates may be announced.
