Bayonne Police Arrest Men With 595 Pounds of Marijuana

Mayor Mark A. Smith and Police Chief Robert Kubert announced that the Bayonne Police Department arrested two men on marijuana charges on January 26 after discovering them at 65 New Hook Road. The men arrested were Gordon T. Peters, 42, of Miramar, Florida, and Jason L. Peters, 21, of Miami, Florida. They were charged with possession of over 25 pounds of marijuana, and possession of marijuana within 500 feet of a public walkway. The approximate weight of the marijuana seized by the police was 595 pounds, which has an estimated street value of $2 million. Bayonne Police Investigation Leads to Arrest of Firefighter

Bayonne Mayor Smith “If you break the law, you don’t work for Bayonne.” 

Mayor Mark A. Smith announced today that the Bayonne Police Department Special Investigation Unit (SIU), in conjunction with the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Washington Township Police Department, executed a search warrant in Oxford, NJ, at the home of Bayonne Firefighter Kenneth Eisenhauer. The warrant was the culmination of a detailed and ongoing narcotics investigation that was initiated by the Bayonne Police Department, and conducted with the assistance of the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration’s Newark Field Division. American Cancer Society -Relay for Life – Makes Plea At Recent Bayonne City Council Meeting

gail-godesky-new-addressing-bay-city-council1At a recent Bayonne City Council meeting Gail Godesky Publicity Chairwoman & Sponsorship Chair for the American Cancer Society’s -Relay for Life addressed the Bayonne City Council in asking for the fee to be waived for the use of Ahern’s Veteran Stadium in Bayonne for the 201o Bayonne Relay For Life -which is tentatively scheduled for June 11- 12th, 2010

In her address to the Bayonne City Council, Ms. Godesky had this to say after addressing each of the council-members in attendance…

 “My name is Gail Godesky; I am born and raised in a great city-Bayonne. As some of you know my sister Lori Starke passed away at 49 years old on February 22nd, 2008 and my mom Lorraine Godesky at the age of  77 passed away February 17th, 2009 from the terrible disease we call cancer for lack of a better word and from a disease that kills and not quietly but rather angrily.

Cancer shows no preference-it has struck old, young, mothers, father’s, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives and dear friends.

They say that home is where the heart is, and with that so is the true meaning of family. In retrospect life is a measurement of  “home and family” which in turn creates strong generations with amazing stories passed on from generation to generation.

Steven Roberts knows first hand the wonderful power of stories told from the past generation. Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, he gathered inspiration from stories told to him by his father and grandfather, his grandfathers dreams and stories inspired the young Roberts to pursue his passion for writing and pushed him to explore the power of the written word. Robert explains, “I come from a family of great storytellers, my grandfather shared with me his many stories and dreams and my father also wrote.

Holy Rosary Church Downtown Jersey City to Celebrate the First Mass of Christmas at Midnight In Latin

Holy Rosary  is  the Oldest Established Italian Parish in New Jersey

Holy Rosary Church has announced plans to celebrate a Traditional Solemn High Mass on Christmas Eve at Midnight. 

The Traditional Mass or the Extraordinary Form as Pope Benedict XVI identifies it in his Apostolic Letter “Summorum Pontificum” is celebrated in Latin according to the Missal of 1962.  This missal was issued under Blessed John XXIII and remained in use until some years after the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council. 

A prelude of seasonal music by Herbeck, Praetorius and Victoria will be performed by the Holy Rosary Choir preceding the mass at 11:15 pm.  During the mass the choir under the direction of Harold Bott will sing the Mass in G by Schubert accompanied by organ and strings. The Holy Rosary Schola will sing the Propers of the Mass in Gregorian chant from the Liber Usualis. Tammy Blanchard Co-stars in new Lifetime Movie-AMISH GRACE

tammy-b-headshot1Tammy Blanchard co-stars with Kimberly Williams-Paisley, & Matt Letscher in Amish Grace,  Lifetime Movie Network’s tele-movie which explores the aftermath of the 2006 schoolhouse shooting in a Pennsylvania Amish community. The movie has begun production December 2009 in Los Angeles.

Ms. Blanchard’s role is that of Marie Roberts; widow of Charles Carl Roberts the shooter of the Pennsylvania schoolhouse.

The Nickle Mine, Pennsylvania schoolhouse shootings received world wide  attention not only for the depth of the tragedy but because of the reaction of the Amish leaders’ who forgave the shooter and his widow wife.

Ms. Blanchards acting roles include: In 2009 co- starred in  “Rabbit Hole” about a  happy couple who’s life is turned upside down after their young son dies in an accident. Co-starring with Nicole Kidman as Ms. Kidman’s sister in David Lindsay-Abaire Pulitizer Prize winning play brought to the big screen. Also appearng in the film is Aaron Echhart, Diane Wiest and Giancarlo Esposito. A 2010 release of the film is in the works. On Friday December 4th , 2009 ShopRite on Avenue C. in Bayonne had its official Grand Opening since closing last March. Located  between 25th and 26th Streets in Bayonne construction  began 9 months ago to make room for a new Super Shoprite that  now includes a 4000 sq.ft   liquor store, Pharmacy,  Electronics Department, Bread Bar, Sushi Bar, Floral department, Dinning area and an expanded Bake Shop. Once inside you also will notice wider aisles.  The  70,000 sq. ft. store also has an underground parking facility that can accommodate 118 cars and on street parking has also expanded to accomomdate 89 cars.

Crowds started forming in anticipation of Fridays Grand Opening from 6am in the morning. By 9am’s Ribbon Cutting cermemony several hundred shoppers waited on line outside for the official opening.

On hand to cut the ribbon along with Mayor Smith of Bayonne and the Inserra Family; owners of the Shoprite, were a large contingent of local politicians and friends and family of the Inserra family.

“ Cheryl Walters who waited with the hundreds of excited shoppers said ” My family has been going to ShopRite as long as I can remember, these past months we have been going to the one in Downtown, Jersey City. I am so happy this one is up and running again. It’s a great store.”
