New York, NY – To aid in providing vacationers and water sports enthusiasts with accurate and current first-hand information of water conditions and proximity of oil emanating from the recent spill, and to counter misconceptions that the entire Gulf coast is contaminated and closed to water-sports activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling, the Diving Equipment & Marketing Association, DEMA, recently launched a new website- www.gulfstatediving.com. The Fallen Faithful Hollywood Premiere Monday June 21st -Jersey City’s PJ Leonard Executive Producer

pj-lenoardI have known PJ Leonard for over 25 years. I have seen him in good times and in bad. I am so happy to see him where he is today. On Monday PJ Leonard who now resides in downtown Jersey City will be in Los Angeles at the Arclight Theater for the premiere of  The Fallen Faithful a film that Lenoard was Executive Producer on and produced through  his production company “Other Side of the River Productions.” 

 

the-fallen-faithfulThe Fallen Faithful is Leonards’ second feature length film having also made: “The Immaculate Conception” and  also adding in 2007 and 2008   two short films to his credits: The Hit and Waiting.

The Fallen Faithful stars Sonny Marinelli, who  has appeared in many high profile television productions including  recurring roles on ER, NYPD Blue, and most recently Raising the Bar. The movie also stars Tony Award -nominated actor Obba  Babatunde’ and Mark Margolis.   Obba Babatunde’ and Mark Margolis are faces everyone recognizes instantly having both been in hundreds of televison productions and movies. Ryan for the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation, Inc. received deserved smiles from partiers as he passed by at the Hot Times at the Fiesta fundraiser because Mike’s efforts at making sure everyone had tasty tacos from Michael Anthony’s restaurant and in keeping his guests happy made this event the success that it was!

All proceeds from the June 10th Hot Times at the Fiesta fundraiser are dedicated to the purchase and installation of security cameras throughout the library system. Cameras have already been installed at the Five Corners, Greenville and Miller branches, and the Main Library.

LA LAKERS WIN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP DEFEATING BOSTON CELTICS 83-79 in Game 7

The LA Lakers won thier 5th NBA Championship in 11 seasons by defeating the  BKN-NBA-FINAL-LAKERS–CELTICSBoston Celtics. The Lakers came back from a fourth quarter deficit beating the Boston Celtics 83-79 to win the NBA Championship. In front of the hometown crowd packed with regulars and movie stars Kobe Bryant scored 23 points and Ron Artest added another 20 points to give  the Lakers the championship.

June 2010 First Annual Car Show – Bayonne

The first annual Car Show for the year 2010 took place on June 17th on Broadway in Bayonne, New Jersey. Sponsored by the Bayonne Town Center and other local merchants in Bayonne the event is a one block street festival with Classic Cars by Liberty Cars, DJ music and live entertainmet. Hudson County Community College to Present 2010 Heritage Award to Nadia Makar, Beloved Teacher and Mentor

Hudson County Community College President Dr. Glen Gabert (left) and HCCC Trustee Katia Stack (right) presented the award to Ms. Makar.

U.S. Man Arrested in Pakistan for Hunting Osama bin Laden

Garry Brooks Faulkner was arrested in a remote region of Pakistan, telling police that he was personally hunting Osama bin Laden. Garry Brooks Faulkner, 52, of California was arrested on Monday in the Bumburat Valley of Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan . He had arrived in the region on June 3, marking his third trip to Pakistan in the last 5 years. At the time of his arrest, Faulkner was armed with a pistol, several rounds of ammunition and a 40-inch sword that he said he brought with him from California. Agnes Gillespie and Ray Greaves Win Bayonne June 15th Primary for Council Seats

The 1st and 3rd Wards in Bayonne have two new Council people elect. Agnes Gillespie and Ray Greaves  both won tonight in Bayonne’s Primary. Two of Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith’s Council running mates; Gillespie, and Greaves fell short of a first ballot victory in the May election forcing them into a run- off against Thomas Cotter in the first ward and Gary La Pelussa in the third ward.

Winning tonights primary with Gillespie  totalling  1408 votes to Cotter’s 1155 and Greaves with a total of 1623  to LaPelusa’s 1570 gives Mayor Smith’ a cohessive Council and with 6 of his running mates on the City  Council Mayor Smith can now push forth his agenda for the city.june-primary-smith-speaks

Jersey City to Hold Second Annual “Made in Jersey City Day” HUGE SUCCESS

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy   and that the City of Jersey City and the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation showcased and honor businesses that have chosen to establish and conduct their business in Jersey City by conducting the Second Annual “Made in Jersey City” Day. The event was held from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at City Hall (280 Grove Street) in the City Council Chambers. A press conference will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Mayor Healy, Jersey City Economic Development Corporation Chief Executive Officer Eugene Nelson and Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone Director Roberta Farber welcoming the seven companies being honored this year and members of the community.
