Jersey City OEM Announces Instructions for Residents & Business Owners During Snow Storms First Major Winter Storm Expected to Exceed 15 inches

 

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy along with the Office of Emergency Management and the Jersey City Incinerator Authority (JCIA) announced today the city’s snow emergency plan in preparation for expected snow fall tomorrow, Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

A snow emergency is when more than three inches of snow falls, such as during a Nor’easter, and requires that residents do not park on designated snow routes. The emergency routes are main thoroughfares that have to be plowed by the Jersey City Incinerator Authority, and on designated days residents should utilize side streets for parking. Bayonne Police Arrest Men With 595 Pounds of Marijuana

Mayor Mark A. Smith and Police Chief Robert Kubert announced that the Bayonne Police Department arrested two men on marijuana charges on January 26 after discovering them at 65 New Hook Road. The men arrested were Gordon T. Peters, 42, of Miramar, Florida, and Jason L. Peters, 21, of Miami, Florida. They were charged with possession of over 25 pounds of marijuana, and possession of marijuana within 500 feet of a public walkway. The approximate weight of the marijuana seized by the police was 595 pounds, which has an estimated street value of $2 million. The Theater Company (TTC) opens with the Broadway musical RENT on February 3, 2010, but instead of just telling the story of seven friends dealing with love, loss and AIDS, the company is also helping to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Hudson Pride Connections – two organizations whose mission is to assist in the fights against HIV/AIDS and bridge gaps for gay communities. JERSEY CITY, N.J. – At Hudson County Community College – home of one of the East Coast’s most acclaimed culinary arts studies programs – a subscription dining program has been established that will result in scholarships for deserving students.

HCCC Vice President for Development Joseph Sansone announced the inauguration of the innovative HCCC Foundation Subscription Dining Series. “These days, everyone is very conscious of value, and this happens to be one of the best values anywhere,” Mr. Sansone said. He explained that the membership fee of $995 provides the Subscription Dining Series member with a table-for-four for eight, four-course luncheons on Fridays this spring. Art Views- Emerging Artist Johnny Pens

 Emerging new artist John Marto aka “Johnny Pens” is unique and very talented; his ability to create cartoon drawings with the use of color pens is amazing as it is impressive. An artist in the downtown Jersey City area, Pens, inception into his art began by making small circles and lines on regular paper. As Pens recalls it, it began as just simple doodling on the Path train, but later turned into an assortment of cartoon characters.johnny-marto-artwork-2

He went from drawing on the Path train to drawing in front of his home, which would soon gather an audience of children as well as adults; they would stop in front of his home during the summer to view him as he drew. Pens began to sketch these lively cartoon characters on manila folders, and with each drawing he captured more and more detail. Framed and displayed they are artistry at its finest.

Dr. Dyson’s appearance is scheduled for Thursday, February 11 at 6 p.m. in the Scott Ring Room of the College’s Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City – just two blocks from the Grove Street PATH station. Mayor Healy Announces that Health Department Will Begin Citywide Distribution of H1N1 Vaccine

Vaccine will be distributed for free and on a first-come, first-serve basis

 Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and the Department of Health and Human Services announced today the citywide distribution schedule for the H1N1 vaccination. Any and all residents wishing to get the H1N1 vaccination will be able to do so at the below indicated clinics, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Hudson Restaurant Week to be held February 1st -12th

Hudson Restaurant Week is a bi-annual culinary celebration that promotes Hudson County as a premier dining destination in New Jersey during slow times of the year: January and July. It was created by Get Out Hudson magazine in 2005 through conversations with local restaurants. The event and magazine were created by one young female entrepreneur, Tamara Remedios.

CHRIST HOSPITAL DELIVERS FIRST BABY OF THE NEW YEAR IN HUDSON COUNTY

Now 20 days old Ved Sanjiv,  is the first baby born in Hudson County County’s for the New Year 2010

Christ Hospital was the birthplace of the first baby born in Hudson County in the new year.  Neelam and Sanjiv Shah became  proud parents of a baby boy, whom they have named Ved Sanjiv, born at Christ Hospital on January 1, 2010 at 5:05 a.m.  Ved, who arrived before his due date and weighed in at 6 lbs., 10 oz., has a three-year-old brother, Nand, who was also born at Christ Hospital.  

Sanjiv Shah, the baby’s father, is employed as the Supervisor of the Vascular Lab at Christ Hospital.
