Inside dining are of Renato's restaurant JC River View Observer  In the Central Avenue storefront customers line up for Renato’s classic pizzas and subs, and on a recent cold afternoon, the Pasta Fajioli and Escarole with White Bean soups were extremely popular. In the back dining room, which seats 55 very comfortably, the atmosphere is relaxed, open and classy with tables covered in white linen and white butcher-block paper and extremely attentive waiters stationed close by to give customers their best service.

hccc-logo300dpiNovember 24, 2014, Jersey City, NJ – The Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Foundation’s 17th Annual “Holiday Extravaganza” gala will take place on Thursday evening, December 4 at 6:00 p.m. at the College’s Culinary Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City. Proceeds from the event – the largest and most festive of all of the Foundation’s fundraisers – will be dedicated to scholarships for deserving students, faculty development programs, and the College’s physical expansion.

The River View Observer extends our condolences to the Sedaka family on the passing of Neil Sedaka

Our  Love Will Keep Us Together, Where the Boys Are,  Breaking Up is Hard to Do, Laughter in the Rain. Back in the day, these songs swept teens off their feet and into the world of Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and international legend, Neil Sedaka.

Accompanying himself at the piano, Sedaka wrote and sang soulful love songs that made teen girls cry and filled teen boys with youthful longing for that special sweetheart. With a voice like buttercream frosting on a 7-layer cake, Sedaka’s sweet vocals keep on going, and at 75, Sedaka will be back at the piano crooning his oldies and most recent recordings on Fri, Dec. 12 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood.

Sedaka will be in the spotlight for one night only to give the audience a chance to hear a master songwriter in an intimate setting. With a look back, Sedaka will sing songs that made him famous and those he wrote that were performed by legends like Elvis, Connie Francis, and the Captain and Tennille. During his 50-year career, Sedaka has sold millions of records and penned hundreds of tunes with lyricists Howard Greenfield and Phil Cody.

Add Some Sparkle to Your Holiday Décor

Add Some Sparkle to Holiday Decor Melinda Myers RVO Liven up your holiday décor with lights, a bit of glitz and some colorful blossoms this season.

Start by gathering greenery from your landscape. Use needled evergreens like pines and firs, broadleaf evergreens like boxwood, holly and evergreen magnolia as well as junipers and arborvitaes to create wreaths, swags, centerpieces and garland. And don’t forget to include cones, holly berries, crabapples and the bluish-colored fruit of junipers.

Be selective as you prune your trees and shrubs when collecting these materials. Use sharp bypass pruners that have two sharp blades and will make a clean cut that closes more quickly.  Make your cuts above a healthy bud, where the branches join another branch, or back to the main trunk. Bayonne Bridge Construction Project Update

Bayonne   Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has advised the City of Bayonne concerning the latest developments in the Bayonne Bridge construction project.

The assembly of the gantry is 90% complete.  Testing of the gantry is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, November 24. This gantry will carry the pre-cast roadway slabs to the new piers.  The piers are the columns that will hold up the roadway.  The crane height will start at 120 feet and then grow to 300 feet once it gets closer to the Kill Van Kull.  The gantry base is at 6th Street and travels the entire length of the bridge.  Sometime this fall, another crane will be in service working on the south end of Bayonne near 1st Street.

Bayonne NJ’s Ribbon Cutting for 4.1 Million Dollar State of the Art Firehouse

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, Fire Chief Greg Rogers, U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, U.S. Rep. Albio Sires and U.S. Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. Bayonne City Council members, Firemen assigned to the new firehouse and Bayonne’s first female firefighter Cailin Brodel, a 2nd grade class all wearing fire hats from Nicholas Oresko School,Bayonne superintendent of schools Patricia McGeehan and members of the public were in attendance for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Bayonne’s 10, 600 Sq.ft. 4.1 million dollar new Firehouse.

The first to open in 40 years and the first standalone firehouse in over 80 years.
Located on Chosen Few Avenue the 160 ft wide fire house designed by RSC Archetics of Newark is a state of the art marvel with all kinds of high-tech equipment to keep the Bayonne community safe
for years to come.

Cailin Brodel, has become Bayonne, New Jersey’s first female fire figher in the Fire Departments 108 year History.

Firefighter Brodel was on hand today at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Bayonne New Jersey’s first new firehouse in over 40 years a 3.5 million dollar state of the art firehouse which will service and protect the Bayonne community for years to come.

New Jersey State Police Need Your Help to Crack a Cold Case 23 Years Old

Pictured ” The Tiger Lady,” a name given by the New Jersey State Police Forensic Experts in an updated composite hoping to find out more about the unidentified woman who bore a Bengal Tiger tattoo on her left calf.

Tiger Lady unidentified female NJ State Police River View ObserverOn October 26th, 1991 a  body described as a white female between the ages of 17 and 19, was found near a rest stop area just off Interstate 80 in Warren, New Jersey.

Approximately 5’8  and weighing 105 pound with brown eyes and blonde or possibly brown hair.

New Jersey State Police are asking the public to help identify this woman and solve this cold case.
