Actresses Tammy Blanchard and Mira Sorvino’s Movie “Union Square” Opens July 13th at New York City’s Angelika Theater

 

At the Angelika Film Center, Mercer and Houston Streets, Greenwich Village. Running time: 1 hour 20 minutes.

Tammy Blanchard (The Good Shepherd,  “Of Two Minds-  Money Ball  ) appears on the big screen July 13th in a role opposite Mira Sorvino in Nancy Savoca’s independent film “Union Square.”

Blanchard plays Jenny, Sorvino’s reserved, estranged, repressed young sister who has spent much of her time trying to distance her self from her tumultouous upbringing which includes her  sister Lucy played by Sorvino.  Arriving  from the Bronx on the verge of a nervous breakdown at Thanksgiving time Lucy’s unexpected visit to Jenny’s  Union Square apartment in New York City forces Jenny to face her past and reveal some secrets of her own. Hudson County Actress Tammy Blanchard Presents First Annual Tammy Blanchard Award at Bayonne High School Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday June 6th at Bayonne High School’s auditorium Hudson  County Actress Tammy Blanchard (L) winner of an Emmy, Drama Desk Award  and twice Tony Award Nominee presents the first ever Tammy Blanchard Drama Department Award to Bayonne High School senior Sarah Martinez. (R)

Ms. Blanchard said in her opening remarks that it is  an honor to have an award named after her that would recognize the talented Bayonne High School student actors and actress for years to come.

The Tammy Blanchard Award was the idea of Tim Craig Drama Department head.

Ms. Blanchard graduated from Bayonne High School in 1994 and has landed many roles in television, Film and on Broadway. In her latest film she co-stars with Mira Sorvino in “Union Square” which is  coming to  theaters in July of 2012 .

Tammy Blanchard  just completed her Tony Nominee performance as Hedy La Rue in ” How to Succeed in Business,” with Nick Jonas. How to Succeed closed on Broadway May 20th of this year. And the past three weeks she appeared in 3 episodes  of Showtimes “The Big C” with Laura Linley and Oliver Platt.

It’s a busy time for Emmy-winning actress Tammy Blanchard. She’s featured on Broadway in “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying,’ where she earned a Tony nomination for her comedic turn as Hedy LaRue and on Mar. 2nd she’s in the season finale of the CBS Drama “The Gifted Man”.  On Mar. 10th, TV viewers can tune in to see Blanchard play Elizabeth Baby, a schizophrenic in the upcoming TV movie “Of Two Minds” with “Sex in the City’s” Kristen Davis as her sister Billie. “Of Two Minds” tells the story of the challenging relationship between Billie and Elizabeth Baby when after their mother dies, Billie brings  Elizabeth Baby home to live with her family. After a disturbing incident, Billie faces a difficult decision that affects the sisters’ lives forever.

“It’s an emotional story about the relationship between two sisters ” Blanchard says. “ Ultimately, as much as we love someone, there are others in our lives we also love and have to protect. Feeling responsible for someone also means making tough decisions.”

On Fri, March 2nd at 9 p.m., Blanchard is featured in the season finale of the CBS drama “The Gifted Man” starring Patrick Wilson.

“I really enjoyed working with Patrick,” Blanchard says. “He’s a wonderful actor, committed and focused. It was a joy being on set with him.”

The actor’s life for Blanchard means traveling a lot to do film and TV roles. In return, the industry has awarded Blanchard for her talent and commitment to her roles. In 2001, Blanchard won an Emmy award playing the young Judy Garland in “Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows” also starring Judy Davis. In 2003, she earned a Theater World Award and Tony award nomination for her portrayal of Louise to Bernadette Peters’ Mama Rose in the 2003 revival of “Gypsy: A Musical Fable” and in 2011, a Tony nomination for Hedy LaRue. Michael Urie’s Opening Night in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

On Tuesday evening January 25th, Nick Jonas made his debut as Pierrepont Finch in ” How to Succeed in Business” at the Hirschefeld Theater in Manhattan. Also debuting last night was Michael Urie from “Ugly Betty” as Bud Frump.

On Sunday June 12th the 65th Annual Tony Awards were held at the Beacon Theater and our Photographer Steve Mack was there to capture all the excitement.
Hudson County Nominee Tammy Blanchard arrived at the Red Carpet as did Al Puccino, Christie Brinkley, Lynn Redgrave, Kelsey Grammer, Brooke Shields, John Legusiamo, and others.

Broadway actress Tammy Blanchard starts performances on February 26th at the Al Hirshfield Theater, 302 West 45th Street, New York, (212 239-6200) in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying starring Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, and actor John Laroquette. Opening night is set for March 27th, 2011.

Ms.Blanchard, a Hudson County resident will star as seductive secretary Hedy La Rue.

This is Ms. Blanchard’s second trip to Broadway having appeared as Louise in Gypsy in 2003 starring Bernadette Peters. Ms. Blanchard, a 2003 Tony Nominee for her performance also won a Theater World Award for her role.

Ms. Blanchard also won an Emmy playing a young Judy Garland in Me and My Shadows.

Currently she can be seen in the film Rabbit Hole as “Izzy” Nicole Kidman’s troubled sister.

In 2011 expect to see Ms.Blanchard in Moneyball starring Brad Pitt and in Union Square, The Music Never Stopped and Certainty.

Ms. Blanchard’s other film and televison credits include: The Good Shepherd, Cadillac Records, Amish, Grace, Sybil, Deadline, Ramen Girl and Bella.
