Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announces developer of harbor station south

(Bayonne, NJ) – Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis today announced Kate Howard LTD as the developer of Harbor Station South in Bayonne.

Harbor South Bayonne Harbor Station South is the designation used for the southwest portion of the former Military Ocean Terminal (MOT) at Bayonne. “This is a major step in the right direction as we pursue full development of the MOT,” said Mayor Davis. Development of the MOT has topped the Davis administration’s agenda as one of its primary goals.

FAMILY FUN AT THE BAYONNE HOMETOWN FAIR

It promises to be something for everyone when the Bayonne Home Town Fair opens this weekend and brings the community out for some fun rides, delicious food, and activities for the kids.

On Sat, June 6, 11 am-7 pm, and Sun, June 7, 12-6 pm, 22nd to 24th Streets (along Del Monte Drive) in Bayonne will be packed with more than 60 vendors and non-profits, children’s rides, games and plenty of entertainment. A soundstage will be set up in the parking lot in front of the Polish American Club, and Kiddie Town near the Mini Golf Course will attract kids of all ages. Bayonne Bridge Construction Update

 

Bayonne Bridge River View Observer             Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has provided the City of Bayonne with updated information on the Bayonne Bridge construction project.

At Pier N2, south of 1st Street, by the Kill Van Kull shoreline, work continues on constructing footings.

At Piers N3, N4, and N5, south of 1st Street, work has been completed for now.

 At Piers N6 & Pier N7,  north of 1st Street (between 1st and 2nd Streets), the Port Authority will be working in this area until December.  Drill shaft work and excavation are under way for sixteen footings. Continue reading Bayonne Bridge Construction Update →

Bayonne’s Culture Scene Takes Off -Art, Theater and New Outdoor Stage on the Rise

It seems Bayonne, its Hudson sister to the south has been going through a renaissance of sorts. Art galleries, theater companies and now a new performing arts pavilion are giving the city a cultural facelift.

There’s the JCC of Bayonne’s Fine Art Gallery currently featuring A COUPLE OF IMAGES, paintings and photographs by Bayonne residents and artists Billy Zbylut and Patty Mulligan; the Art Circle of Bayonne at the Bayonne Community Museum which has a Spring Art Show underway  featuring Bayonne artists; the new Bayonne Theater Company is hosting a gala on Thursday, May 21, with its first show THE MUSIC MAN in pre-production; and a Bayonne performing arts pavilion which will host local theater, music and dance groups, as well as stars like Willie Nelson is breaking ground in a few weeks. .

New Jersey Turnpike Authority Officials, Bayonne  Mayor Jimmy Davis The Bayonne City Council,  Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, New Jersey State Senator Sandra Cunningham, Assemblyman Charles Mainor,Jersey City  Deputy Director Vivian Brady-Philips  broke ground  on Wednesday, March 11th for the $310 million NJ Turnpike Authority’s Interchange 14 A Improvement Project.

Bayonne Bridge Construction Update from the City of Bayonne

 

 

Bayonne Bridge Construction Updates River View ObserverMayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has advised the City of Bayonne concerning the latest developments in the Bayonne Bridge construction project.

The assembly of the gantry is 95% complete.  The gantry will have a load and performance test on December 8. This gantry will carry the pre-cast roadway slabs to the new piers.  The piers are the columns that will hold up the roadway.  The crane height will start at 120 feet and then grow to 300 feet once it gets closer to the Kill Van Kull.  The crane started constructing new piers on November 14 near Margaret Street and 5th Street. The gantry base is at 6th Street and travels the entire length of the bridge.  Sometime this fall, another crane will be in service working on the south end of Bayonne near 1st Street. Bayonne NJ’s Ribbon Cutting for 4.1 Million Dollar State of the Art Firehouse

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, Fire Chief Greg Rogers, U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, U.S. Rep. Albio Sires and U.S. Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. Bayonne City Council members, Firemen assigned to the new firehouse and Bayonne’s first female firefighter Cailin Brodel, a 2nd grade class all wearing fire hats from Nicholas Oresko School,Bayonne superintendent of schools Patricia McGeehan and members of the public were in attendance for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Bayonne’s 10, 600 Sq.ft. 4.1 million dollar new Firehouse.

The first to open in 40 years and the first standalone firehouse in over 80 years.
Located on Chosen Few Avenue the 160 ft wide fire house designed by RSC Archetics of Newark is a state of the art marvel with all kinds of high-tech equipment to keep the Bayonne community safe
for years to come.

Bayonne Bergen Point Festival to Ring in Halloween

As Halloween approaches, many of us are gearing up to have some bewitching fun as witches, goblins and things that go bump in the night. In Bayonne, the UEZ and Bergen Point merchants are preparing to scare up some local fun at the Bayonne Bergen Point Festival to be held on Sat, Oct. 18, from noon to 5 pm.

A community celebration, the festival, which will be held on Broadway from 5th to Cottage Streets will feature entertainment, more than 30 food vendors and lots of fun things for the kids like rides, balloon sculptures, temporary tattoos, sand art, face painting and more. That’s right. Kids who want to see the dentist are not a rare sighting at Bayonne Family Dental. That’s because Dr. Peter Fuentes and Dr. Salvatore Pavone, the two partners overseeing the dental practice, aim to keep their offices a no cry zone. The expansive Bayonne office on the corner of 55th Street and Kennedy Boulevard features 10 treatment rooms and offices for seven dentists on rotating schedules.
