Asbury Park, New Jersey — The New Jersey Hall of Fame will induct 15 new honorees at this year’s Induction Ceremony on May 7, 2017, at historic Convention Hall on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
The distinguished Class of 2016 includes:
  • ARTS & LETTERS: Author Carol Higgins Clark and news anchor Connie Chung.
  • ENTERPRISE: Businessman Alfred Koeppe and founder of NY Waterway Arthur Imperatore, Sr.
  • PERFORMING ARTS: Singer, composer, actress, entertainer, and publisher Connie Francis, actress and TV personality Kelly Ripa, actor Ray Liotta, pop-rock musician Tommy James, and rapper Wyclef Jean of The Fugees.
  • PUBLIC SERVICE: Non-denominational spiritual teacher and activist Peace Pilgrim and United States Army officer Philip Kearny.
  • SPORTS: Professional soccer midfielder Carli Lloyd, former President and General Manager of the WNBA New York Liberty Carol Blazejowski, heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner, and NFL Pro-bowler Rosey Grier.

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis Announces Sale of Bayonne Bay West

(Bayonne, NJ) – Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis today announced the sale of approximately 30 acres of the former Military Ocean Terminal (“MOTBY”) to Atlantic Realty of Woodbridge. Atlantic Realty was designated the developer in 2006 under Mayor Doria. The plan calls for construction of 525 residential units, park space, new roads and addition to the Hudson River Walkway. The Project has long been delayed by lawsuits that were finally settled in the spring of 2015 under Mayor Davis. According to the Developer, Jack Halpern, they hope to be under construction by the fall or early spring of 2018 at the latest. LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO CLEAN -UP THE JERSEY CITY RESERVOIR 
 
Meet  at the South Entrance, 10am-2pm
Jersey City is having a Spring Cleanup April 29 as big as all outdoors.  The Embankment Preservation Coalition is doing their part by pitching in to polish up “the Hidden Jewel in the Heights,” Reservoir No. 3 between Summit and Central Avenues.  Meet board member Luke Schray at the South entrance at Jefferson Avenue.  They supply the tools; you supply the energy to help  clean the park and improve its nature trails.
 
If you have not yet visited this amazing ecosystem in the heart of Jersey City, you are in for a treat, not to mention a pizza lunch for our willing laborers.  Please let our Volunteer Coordinator know if you are coming.

NJ Turnpike Construction Interchange 14A Next Three Weeks

THREE WEEK SCHEDULE AS OF APRIL 21, 2017

The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
14A Interchange project next three weeks
Toll Plaza
East side (entering 14A): renovation of existing Toll Utility Building continues.
During the weekend of 04/21/17, from 9:00PM Friday through 1:00PM Saturday, asphalt paving construction work will be performed in Toll Lanes 3 & 4 after traffic passes through the Toll Plaza heading towards the Hudson County Extension. Traffic will be split before the Toll Plaza and motorists will need to choose to stay right for the eastbound extension (JC/NYC) or to the left for the westbound extension (Newark) before passing through the Toll Plaza. Once traffic passes through the Toll Plaza, motorists will not be able to switch lanes. A VMS sign will be placed at Toll Lanes 3 & 4 to direct traffic left and right. Work will be supported by Bayonne and State Police.

Bayonne Celebration at 16th Street Park on Earth Day, and City Wide Clean-Up

 Mayor Davis’ upcoming Earth Day Event  Saturday, April 22nd from 12:00 – 2:00 pm.

This community event combines a citywide clean-up and fun celebration for all to enjoy.    Over FORTY teams have signed up for the citywide clean-up.

The Celebration, which will occur at 16th Street Park, off Avenue A will include hot dogs, ice cream, refreshments, a blow-up slide, and a band for all to enjoy. 

Also several organizations  have agreed to host a table to offer environmental educational material and giveaways.

Councilmen Rivera and Robinson to Introduce Affordable Housing Compliance Ordinance

At-Large Councilman Daniel Rivera and Ward F Councilman Jermaine Robinson are introducing an ordinance at next week’s council meeting that will ensure Jersey City residents are given first priority with regard to the several hundred units of new affordable housing coming online. 

The Affordable Housing Compliance Ordinance, which will be up for a first reading vote next Wednesday, establishes the city’s first ever policy for how affordable housing should be marketed, establishes a priority for Jersey City residents and creates a waitlist process, as well as annual monitoring mechanism. Downtown JC pricing gathers momentum

In a milestone quarter, prices for one to four family dwellings in Pure Properties South Hudson Market Report

Downtown Jersey City eclipsed those of Hoboken for the first time since 1996 when MLS data launched.

While 1-4 family home prices in Hoboken and Downtown Jersey City softened from Q4 2016, Hoboken’s fall was far more drastic. The median house price of 1-4 family homes in Downtown Jersey City continued to strengthen compared to the same quarter last year, up 10% to $1.40 million. Hoboken exhibited further weakness, with the median house price of 1-4 family homes down -17% since the first quarter of 2016 to $1.31 million – below Downtown for the first time in 19 years. The highest 1-4 family sale for the quarter was a single-family townhouse on Hudson Street in Hoboken for $2.425 million, substantially below both the list price of $2.95 million and the highest sale last quarter.

Condominium sales prices in Downtown Jersey City have strengthened enormously since last quarter (+5%) and year over year (+12%). Hoboken’s condominium market has remained effectively flat over the quarter (-1%) and has only inched upwards over the year (+3%). The highest condominium sale, a condo on Washington Street in Hoboken, surpassed the highest 1-4 family sale this quarter trading for $2.499 million or around $923 per square foot.
