Agnes Gillespie and Ray Greaves Win Bayonne June 15th Primary for Council Seats

Agnes Gillespie and Ray Greaves Council people- elect give the high sign as winners of Tuesday’s Primay in Bayonne gellespie-and-greaves-winners

The 1st and 3rd Wards in Bayonne have two new Council people elect. Agnes Gillespie and Ray Greaves  both won tonight in Bayonne’s Primary. Two of Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith’s Council running mates; Gillespie, and Greaves fell short of a first ballot victory in the May election forcing them into a run- off against Thomas Cotter in the first ward and Gary La Pelussa in the third ward.

Winning tonights primary with Gillespie  totalling  1408 votes to Cotter’s 1155 and Greaves with a total of 1623  to LaPelusa’s 1570 gives Mayor Smith’ a cohessive Council and with 6 of his running mates on the City  Council Mayor Smith can now push forth his agenda for the city.june-primary-smith-speaks

Jersey City to Hold Second Annual “Made in Jersey City Day” HUGE SUCCESS

Daylong event to celebrate entrepreneurs & businesses who have chosen to design and produce their products in Jersey City

 

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy   and that the City of Jersey City and the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation showcased and honor businesses that have chosen to establish and conduct their business in Jersey City by conducting the Second Annual “Made in Jersey City” Day. The event was held from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at City Hall (280 Grove Street) in the City Council Chambers. A press conference will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Mayor Healy, Jersey City Economic Development Corporation Chief Executive Officer Eugene Nelson and Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone Director Roberta Farber welcoming the seven companies being honored this year and members of the community. Port Authority Joins With NJ Transit, MTA and Mastercard to Offer Contactless Bank Cards for Area Transit Riders

Customers on the Port Authority’s PATH rail system now can simply “Tap and Go” with their credit cards, under a regional six-month program that began on Tuesday June 1st.

Eleven of PATH’s 13 stations (except the Christopher and 9th street stations) have been equipped with special payment readers, allowing riders to tap a contacltess credit card or other device like a key fob to pay fares.

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy proudly posses with two Jersey City residents at the Everything Jersey City Festival which was held on Saturday May 22nd.

The annual event which ran from 11am to 6pm along 10 blocks of Central Avenue hosted over 300 + Artisits, Crafters, Festival Food Vendors, and local businesses.

The Festival also had 4 stages of free music and entertainment, and kids attractions. Sponosred by the Central Avenue S.I.D Management Corp in partnership with Mayor Healy, and the City of Jersey City Municipal Council, Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise and the Board of Chosen Freeholders and paid for in part by the Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone Program.

Jersey City Mayor Jerrimiah Healy and Jersesy City Council President Peter Brennan  cut the ribbon for the Grand Opening of the new Zeytinia Market located in the beautful Jersey City’s Canco Lofts located on 50 Dey Street off St. Paul’s Avenue in Jersey City. Once the home of the American Can Company this property was developed to include 158 lofts and 44 spectacular duplex penthouses.         CANCO LOFTS

 

Bayonne High School junior exhibited Ceramic Piece at the Clay Studio Gallery in Philadelphia

 anthony-rodJunior Anthony Rodriguez a Ceramic 2 student of Ms. Terri Graham will had his ceramic piece  Slab Vessel displayed at a professional art gallery in Philadelphia PA. Anthony’s piece was entered in the Clay In Mind show at Burlington County Regional High School for jurying where it was selected to be exhibited at The Clay Studio Gallery.  This show presents the best of student ceramic art throughout the State of New Jersey.  Anthony’s Slab Vessel was selected for a 2ND place award. The exhibit ran from Friday May 7th and run until Saturday May 14th. 

Anthony  Rodriguez plans on a career in Architecture.  His interest in geometric spaces and building design is evident in his winning art work.

Urban Angels Receives $10K Grant from The Provident Bank Foundation

 JERSEY CITY, NJ – Urban Angels, a nonprofit organization providing child care and family support services, recently received a $10,000 grant from The Provident Bank Foundation. The Residences at Dixon Mills Receives ‘Excellence in Preservation’ Award From Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy

(May 18, 2010) — The Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, a not-for-profit organization that works to preserve, promote and protect the city’s irreplaceable historic resources, has announced that it has selected The Residences at Dixon Mills, a landmark condominium conversion in downtown Jersey City, to receive an Excellence in Preservation award at the Conservancy’s 2010 Annual Preservation Awards Ceremony.

 

Given to outstanding examples of restoration or adaptive reuse of a historic building, the Excellence in Preservation award is being bestowed upon The Residences at Dixon Mills for Elmsford, NY-based developer Robert Martin Company’s restoration of the former Dixon Ticonderoga furnace houses into luxury condominiums and a comprehensive lifestyle amenities facility. On Saturday, May 15th The Village Neighborhood Association, with the support of 4th Street Arts,  hosted The 2nd Annual Village Art & Flea Market. A few thousand people came out to shop and mingle…

Taking place at the crossroads of 4th Street, Newark Avenue and Brunswick Street, the event featured an array of local artists’ works, the finest up-and-coming bands New Jersey has to offer, and delicious food from local vendors.
