“ I always messed around with cameras, but that win made me think, I might have some talent for taking photos, Mack noted when interviewed for this article.
“Since I got involved with photography, my passion is taking night photos, and playing with colors, of the subjects I am shooting; landscapes, sunrises, sunsets, bridges, buildings, trains, and also my other love with photography is being right there in the action, football games, concerts, you know, people places.”
This love for spectator event photography led him through the years to work as the official photographer for the Conservative Talk Show
and Radio Hosts, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Colonel Oliver North.
“Back in the day, I was Rush Limbaugh’s personal photographer for on-stage talking events for 3 years. I would take his photo
interacting with his audience, Mack added. “I worked for Hannity and actually photographed his first-ever on-stage talk event, at the Sixth Flags, Freedom Alliance Concerts, which led to my working with him for 5 years at these concerts. Colonel North would attend on occasion. These events helped me to hone my craft.”
Through those Conservative Concert events, Mack heard a call go out, asking photographers to submit photos of the World Trade Center to be used in a booklet for the Pre-screening of the 9/11 Documentary, a booklet that would be handed out to family members of those lives lost on 9/11 and dignitaries attending the screening. Mack submitted a photo of the World Trade Center Towers with the Statue of Liberty strategically placed between the Towers. That photo was chosen and was placed as the first photo in the booklet.
“My photo with four other photographers’ photos was seen all over the world in that booklet.”
As much as he loves photography, Mack never left his full-time job at Verizon; instead, he pursued photography whenever possible, on days off, lunch breaks, and on vacations.
“I always have a camera with me, you never know where your next photo will come from.”
The few images shown here, and the several hundred Mack has taken, are from a lifetime of photography. He is looking forward to having his own local exhibition of his work one day.
