Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and its contractors have provided the City of Bayonne with updated information about construction in and around the Turnpike’s 14 A interchange.
In the toll plaza itself, renovation work is continuing on the toll plaza building.
Asphalt resurfacing of the north side of the toll plaza and of the ramps between the toll plaza the Hudson County Extension is tentatively scheduled for late June 2017.

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that Suburban Disposal, Bayonne’s carting contractor, will come to Bayonne beginning at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, for regular garbage pick-ups and to pick up any recycling that was missed on Thursday.
The areas that were scheduled for recycling pick-ups on Thursday are from 1st Street to 30th Street, including Prospect Avenue, Avenue F, and Harbor Pointe (formerly The Alexan). Anyone in those areas whose recycling was not picked up on Thursday should leave it out for pick-up on Friday.
Regular garbage pick-ups take place Fridays on every street except Broadway. Anyone whose garbage is scheduled for Friday pick-ups should set it out on Thursday night.
Mayor Jimmy Davis and Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver announced that that City accepted the donation of 11 sets of firefighter turnout gear from IMTT.
Representatives of IMTT including Terminal Manager Michael Morganti presented Mayor Davis, Fire Chief Keith Weaver, and Deputy Fire Chiefs Stephen Peterson and William Bartos with turnout gear valued at nearly $30,000.
“This donation is greatly appreciated and shows just how exceptional IMTT is as a corporate neighbor,†said Mayor Jimmy Davis. “This turnout gear is critical for keeping our firefighters safe when they come in contact with hazardous conditions in the course of their duties.â€

 LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT IN RESTAURANTS A PLUS FOR PATRONSÂ
The Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone  (UEZ) and member businesses part of the UEZ are currently hosting a weekly event MUSIC ON BROADWAY.
Now in its fourth week the event has provided restaurant goers some incredible music while they sit  and eat in their favorite haunts.
Most of these restaurants and venues have  never had entertainment before the program and the public has enjoyed it to date.
The concept for the event was first started when the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone hosted Monday Music at the Museum a monthly series which brought bands into the Bayonne Commuinity Museum this past spring.
The series organizer Terry Young along with Dee Dee Bottino of the Bayonne UEZ have put together a talented group of 20 musicians who on a weekly basis rotate within the 18 various venues .
The next MUSIC ON BROADWAY will be held this Friday, December 16th with the following musicians, venues and times:

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has provided new information to the City of Bayonne about the Bayonne Bridge construction project.
Construction at most bridge piers on the Bayonne side of the bridge has been completed. At Piers N6 and N7, between 1st and 2ndStreets, pipe struts are being installed. The gantry should launch to this location during February. (Bayonne, NJ) – Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis today announced Kate Howard LTD as the developer of Harbor Station South in Bayonne.
Harbor Station South is the designation used for the southwest portion of the former Military Ocean Terminal (MOT) at Bayonne. “This is a major step in the right direction as we pursue full development of the MOT,†said Mayor Davis. Development of the MOT has topped the Davis administration’s agenda as one of its primary goals.

It promises to be something for everyone when the Bayonne Home Town Fair opens this weekend and brings the community out for some fun rides, delicious food, and activities for the kids.
On Sat, June 6, 11 am-7 pm, and Sun, June 7, 12-6 pm, 22nd to 24th Streets (along Del Monte Drive) in Bayonne will be packed with more than 60 vendors and non-profits, children’s rides, games and plenty of entertainment. A soundstage will be set up in the parking lot in front of the Polish American Club, and Kiddie Town near the Mini Golf Course will attract kids of all ages. At Pier N2, south of 1st Street, by the Kill Van Kull shoreline, work continues on constructing footings.
At Piers N3, N4, and N5, south of 1st Street, work has been completed for now.

Bayonne’s Culture Scene Takes Off -Art, Theater and New Outdoor Stage on the Rise

Jersey City’s culture scene just got some competition. It seems Bayonne, its Hudson sister to the south has been going through a renaissance of sorts. Art galleries, theater companies and now a new performing arts pavilion are giving the city a cultural facelift.
There’s the JCC of Bayonne’s Fine Art Gallery currently featuring A COUPLE OF IMAGES, paintings and photographs by Bayonne residents and artists Billy Zbylut and Patty Mulligan; the Art Circle of Bayonne at the Bayonne Community Museum which has a Spring Art Show underway  featuring Bayonne artists; the new Bayonne Theater Company is hosting a gala on Thursday, May 21, with its first show THE MUSIC MAN in pre-production; and a Bayonne performing arts pavilion which will host local theater, music and dance groups, as well as stars like Willie Nelson is breaking ground in a few weeks. .
