Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 660*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 385 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.  The availability of test options has increased and the number of current positive residents continues to decrease.

TESTING:  The Bayonne Medical Center continues to perform testing for COVID-19 at Veterans Stadium each weekday.  Your physician can make you an appointment for this testing.  Rite-Aid at 1097 Broadway is also performing COVID-19 testing.  This testing is free and is open to anyone (regardless if you have symptoms or not).  Go to riteaid.com to make an appointment.  CityMD is doing Antibody testing.

RECYCLING:  This is the final alternate recycling pick-up.  Please put out cardboard/paper only tonight.  Next week we return to normal recycling schedule throughout the city.

PARKING: Beginning Monday, June 1st, all temporary reserved parking spaces reserved for food pick up will be eliminated.  Normal parking rules/regulations are back in effect.  Residential Zone parking regulations remain suspended until further notice.

Hudson County Community College Culinary Arts Chefs and staff prepare, Serve 300 meals for lET’S Celebrate

preparing gourmet, hot lunches.

May 28, 2020, Jersey City, NJ – Over the past few days, chefs, professors and staff from the Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Division of Business, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management have been working with Broadway and TV star Tituss Burgess to prepare over 300 hot lunches for clients of Let’s Celebrate. The HCCC staff plated and served the to-go meals on Friday, May 22 at the Let’s Celebrate Square Meal Soup Kitchen, 46 Fairview Avenue in Jersey City.

Hoboken, Riverside Medical to expand COVID-19 testing for employees of Hoboken businesses

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla, Riverside Medical and Council President Jen Giattino today announced that all employees of any local Hoboken business are now eligible for rapid, COVID-19 testing through the Riverside testing location in Hoboken. The testing expansion reflects Hoboken’s commitment to assisting small businesses with additional safety precautions in preparation for a gradual re-opening. Employees of Hoboken businesses do not need to have COVID-19 symptoms in order to receive a test.

COVID-19 Cases in Bayonne continue to decline

Mayor Davis has informed us that a 72yr old female has died from Coronavirus-related illness.  This is Bayonne’s 70th death from this pandemic.  Mayor Davis extends his deepest condolences to the family of this resident.

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 357 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.   This is the largest single one day decrease in day over day positive cases in Bayonne.

Mayor Davis has informed us a 64yr old female Bayonne resident passed away due to Coronavirus-related illness.  This passing marks the 69th since the beginning of the health emergency.  Mayor Davis expresses his deepest sympathy, on behalf of all Bayonne, to the family of the deceased.

Mayor Davis has informed us that two more Bayonne residents have passed away due to Coronavirus-related illness.  A 78yr old male and a 50yr old female passed away, bringing our total to 68 fatalities.  Mayor Davis expresses his deepest sympathy, on behalf of all Bayonne, to the families of these two neighbors.

Jersey City Begins Implementing Re-Opening Plans To Help Local Businesses Bounce Back

Will Provide Testing for All Employees of Local Businesses; Will Provide PPE Re-Opening Packages once Business is Tested; Will Facilitate Easy Access to Outdoor Seating for Restaurants

 Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today that the city will be taking aggressive steps to help local small businesses prepare to re-open their doors once Governor Murphy lifts restrictions. The plan includes testing for all employees of local businesses, providing each local business a re-opening package that will include PPE and sanitizer once the business is tested, and a process for restaurants to easily expand outdoor seating to offset loss of indoor seating.

“After two months of these businesses being closed, we want to do our part to make sure that local businesses have the ability to re-engage their customers and build trust. We think customers knowing that all the employees have recently tested negative and are equipped with PPEs will allow this to happen. For restaurants specifically, we want to offset any reduction that the Governor may implement with indoor restriction by allowing restaurants to have more seating outdoor,” Mayor Fulop said. 

Over the last few weeks, leadership within the Departments of Public Safety, Health and Human Services, and Housing & Economic Development have been doing large focus group Zoom meetings with local business owners to solicit feedback and better understand the resources they will need. 

In addition to testing and PPE, the city has set an easy to use application for any business looking to expand outdoor seating for their business. 

“This pandemic has challenged everyone in many ways, and business owners have also had the additional burden of trying to survive the pandemic in their business capacity as well,” said Annisia Cialone, Director of HEDC.  â€œThe future of local business will not immediately return to the way it was, so we’re working to help them recover and get to that point.”

The city will provide owners and employees both COVID-19 and Antibody Testing, in addition to a safety kit which will include face coverings, gloves, and sanitizers based on the number of employees at each business. 

“We have been building a reserve of PPE for our employees, but after listening to local businesses say they are having challenges obtaining PPE we feel that using our supply to help local businesses is a good use of our current supply so that these businesses can open quickly,” said Public Safety Director James Shea.
