  Yes, you can ‘curl up to a Kindle’ now that Kindle-compatibility exists at OverDrive.com, which is found through a link when you scroll down the homepage of the Jersey City Free Public Library website.  

            The digital service, which has been offered through the Jersey City Free Public Library since 2008, provides audio books, eBooks, music and video to download.  Library card holders can check out and download digital titles anytime, anywhere by visiting http://jclibrary.lib.overdrive.com. Hudson County Community College Breaks Ground for New Learning Resources Center & Academic Building

November 4, 2011, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College broke ground for a new Learning Resources Center & Academic Building on Sip Avenue in Jersey City on Thursday, Nov. 3.

 The first two floors of the building will be dedicated to the Learning Resources Center, which will house traditional printed and e-books as well as other digital media. The Learning Resources Center will also include several computer and information stations, a copy center, and various areas for individual as well as group studies. The top four floors of the building will be dedicated to classrooms that will include traditional learning, computer lab and tiered lecture-room designs.

It’s a great weekend to be in Hoboken if you are an art lover! Not
only do we have our Small Works exhibition coming up on

will be open all weekend for the tour, however, and we hope to have many tour
visitors outside of our reception as well.

Civilian Offices at Bayonne City Hall Closed for Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11

 Bayonne Municipal Court will be closed.  Regular garbage and recycling pick-ups will take
place
. The Public Library and the Constable Hook Recycling center will
be closed.

          Street-sweeping and alternate side of the street parking will be suspended.  Parking meters and residential permit parking regulations will not be enforced.

         The annual Veterans’ Day ceremony will take place at City Hall in the Dorothy Harrington
Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m. on November 11.  Veterans’ organizations and public officials will participate.

Family on Board, written and directed by George Pogatsia, may be short in length but boasts a cast tailored for the big-screen. The film features a stellar, hand-selected cast who collectively have garnered numerous Golden Globe, Emmy, SAG and Academy Award nominations and wins.

Pogatsia, who also produced and stars in Family on Board, plays Mike Petito – a family man and biker who receives a questionable prison sentence. JERSEY CITY GIVES FREE FLU SHOTS FOR SENIORS

Seniors and Adults with Chronic Illnesses

JERSEY CITY — Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and the Department of Health and Human Services will hold another Flu Clinic for Seniors and Adults with Chronic Illnesses beginning Monday, November 7, 2011 from Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Immunization Clinic at the MLK Hub, located on 360 Martin Luther King Drive.

The vaccine will be provided free of charge to Seniors and adults with chronic illnesses from Jersey City. No appointment is necessary and the vaccine will be administered on a first come, first serve basis while supplies lasts.

All persons receiving the vaccine mXust complete a Consent Form which will be made available at the site prior to receiving the vaccine. The vaccine will not be administered to anyone without a completed Consent Form indicating their approval to receive the vaccine.

Bayonne Town Center Annoucnes Pumpkin Decorating Contest Winners

Bayonne Town Center Pumpkin Contest Winners

On Monday, October 31st, the Bayonne Town Center held its Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest.  Our winners were Aidan Zieniuk, Kaitlyn Arroyo, and Cody Lindquist!  Children ages 3-12 were able to show off their artistic talent by submitting their pumpkins at the Bayonne Town Center office at 8 East 22nd Street from October 14th through October 29th.  These pumpkin masterpieces were displayed in the front window for passersby to admire during the Halloween season.  Pumpkin designs ranged from haunted houses, to farm animals, to spiders, to the Statue of Liberty!  The BTC  received 31 pumpkins this year!

Bayonne Town Center Executive Director Mary Divock said “They were all wonderfully decorated and we would like to thank all the kids that entered!”
