Everything You Need to Know if You Are Going to Jersey City’s Fourth of July Festival

“None of this would be possible without the generosity of our sponsors,” said Mayor James Solomon. “Their support means every resident and visitor can enjoy a world-class celebration without it costing our taxpayers a dime. Jersey City was there at our nation’s founding, and we are proud to be America’s Golden Door – welcoming those who built our nation and providing a home where the next 250 years of our nation’s story can be written.”

“The Exchange Place Alliance is delighted to support such an important Jersey City celebration under the Mayor’s leadership.  For Jersey City residents and visitors, it is a great opportunity to show how special our city is, not just on July 4 but every day,” said Michael J. DeMarco, Board President.

Getting There

Public transportation is strongly recommended, as the festival footprint will limit vehicle access throughout Downtown Jersey City.

  • PATH: Exchange Place, Grove Street, and Newport stations all provide access; Grove Street and Newport are recommended alternatives for those looking to avoid the heaviest crowds at Exchange Place.
  • Hudson-Bergen Light Rail: Harborside, Exchange Place, and Essex Street stations serve the area; riders should check NJ Transit for possible service changes and be prepared to walk between stations.
  • Driving is strongly discouraged. Those who must drive should park outside the event footprint — in Newport, Journal Square, Liberty State Park, or west of Marin Boulevard — and walk or take transit into the area.
