Fourth Consecutive Year With No Municipal Tax Increase as Fulop Administration Brings Long-Term Fiscal Stability to Jersey City
Budget Includes Hiring More Police Officers and Continued Expansion of Recreational Programming, a New Municipal Park and Park Renovations Throughout the City
JERSEY CITY – For the fourth year in a row, the Fulop administration will introduce a budget with no tax increase at the City Council meeting tonight and as outlined by Mayor Steven M. Fulop during his recent State of the City addresses. The 2017 budget holds taxes flat for a third consecutive year, following a 2.13 percent tax reduction in 2014, the first Fulop administration budget year.

Hoboken street cleaning will be suspended on Thursday, March 16th, as crews continue working to clear snow from corners, bus stops, and other locations. Four additional Bobcats and crews have been brought in to focus exclusively on clearing corners. With about 1,000 crosswalks across the city, a lot more work remains to be done, so street cleaning will remain suspended tomorrow (Thursday, March 16) so that crews can continue to focus on this work.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer is introducing a municipal budget that continues to keep municipal taxes stable for the 7th straight year. The introduced 2017 budget includes a 1.25% reduction in the municipal tax rate, due to a flat municipal tax levy and an increasing ratable base.
Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis The Vehicle Auction is being held at 9:30 a.m., at the Bayonne Police Pound, 330 Hook Road, in Bayonne. The vehicles that will be featured at the auction came into the possession of the Police Department as a result of abandonment or failure of owners to claim them. The vehicles scheduled to be auctioned on Tuesday, March 21, will be available for inspection by prospective bidders on Monday, March 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bayonne Police Pound. 
The Bayonne Library will Hold Registration for Various Programs in the Children’s Room was announced by Mayor Jimmy Davis, the Bayonne Public Library will have registration for Parent/Toddler Time and Preschool Storytime. Registration for these programs will take place starting Monday, March 20, at 9:30 a.m., through Friday, March 24, or until these programs are filled, whichever comes first. The library will start registration each day at 9:30 a.m. All programs take place in the Children’s Room in the public library at 31st Street and Avenue C. The Spring Session for these programs will begin on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
