The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has advised the City of Bayonne that it will close the Disaster Recovery Center it has been operating at the Bayonne Community Museum, which is located at 9th Street and Broadway. FEMA will have its last day at that location on Saturday, December 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  After that date, Bayonne residents and property owners in need of a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Hudson County should go to either the Jersey City location at 350 Montgomery Street, or the Hoboken location, City Hall, at 94 Washington Street. Those facilities will have half-days on New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31, with hours from 9:00 a. m. to 1:00 p.m. They will both be closed on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1, and will reopen with regular hours of 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2.

When students from the Fashion Marketing and Management degree program at Berkeley College were invited to run a fashion show at Neiman Marcus Last Call Studio in the Bergen Town Center in Paramus, they jumped into action. The result was a show titled “Rocking Around in Holiday Trends†that brought festive cheer and the latest styles to holiday shoppers. Students from a number of different disciplines volunteered as models for the show.
“The Berkeley College students’ enthusiasm and commitment made this fashion show possible and resulted in a fun, upbeat and creative event being held at our store,†said Iwona Niemiec, Store Manager, Nieman Marcus Last Call Studio.

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and Police Chief Tom Comey will announce two crime fighting initiatives, including added foot patrols, during an 11 a.m. press conference tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at the HUB, 360 Martin Luther King Drive.
The foot patrols, which are being made possible with the additional 22 officers who are set to be sworn in Friday, will be added in areas throughout the city where needed, the Police Department.            Ashley Furniture HomeStores of Central New Jersey has delivered beds to three Bayonne families in need this autumn, and plans to make additional deliveries in December. The donations are part of the HomeStore’s A Hope 2 Dream project, which the company coordinated locally with the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF). Ashley Furniture Homestore, which has locations in North Brunswick, Linden, Eatontown, Freehold, and Woodbridge, approached BEOF Executive Director Ana Quintela about helping people in Bayonne. Quintela helped identify BEOF clients who needed assistance obtaining beds for their families.
           Mayor Mark A. Smith said, “I would like to thank Ashley Furniture HomeStores of Central New Jersey for its generosity to children here in Bayonne. I would also like to thank the BEOF for working closely with Ashley to make A Hope 2 Dream a reality for local families. On November 15th Marist High School’s Spanish teacher, Ms. Gonzalez took students to the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet held at the Park Performing Arts Center in Union City. This is the sixth year that Marist students have traveled to see the show. Marist High School Student Matthew Cabrera said : “I had such a good time last year, I went again this year.† The show demonstrated different dances from different parts of the world. The show included dances from Argentina, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Native instruments and clothing also provided an extra treat for the audience. The show was very interactive calling for audience participation between dance performances. It is important to the Marist High School Administration that the students experience other cultures, so that they become well- rounded citizens.
