Executive Order Provides Detailed Policy Preventing City Resources from being Used on Federal Immigration Enforcement
Jersey City is One of the Most Diverse Cities in the Nation with 40 percent of Population Foreign Born; Executive Order to be a model for other Cities in New Jersey and the Nation
JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop will be joined by members of the City Council and immigration advocates tomorrow to sign an executive order re-affirming the city’s Sanctuary Cities status and outlining a detailed policy on the matter for the Police Department and other city departments and agencies who work with the immigrant community. As one of the most diverse cities in the nation, with 40 percent of the population foreign born, the executive order establishes a firm policy preventing city resources from being used on the enforcement of federal immigration law and will serve as a model for other cities in New Jersey and the nation. The policy was drafted in partnership with a coalition of immigration advocates including the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, the ACLU of New Jersey, American Friends Service Committee and Make the Road New Jersey.

authorize the use of eminent domain for the direct purchase of land to double the size of the Southwest Park. This authorization provides the City with a valuable negotiating tool and will ensure that the property can be acquired for a price fair to both Academy Bus and the City of Hoboken. I also want to thank the City Council for their unanimous support for our application for Green Acres funding, which together with our Open Space Trust Fund, will enable us to acquire this property without any impact on our municipal taxes. 
All Hoboken residents are invited to a community meeting which will take place at the Hoboken Housing Authority on Monday, February 6th at 7:00pm at the community room in 221 Jackson Street.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer joined other elected officials, dignitaries, and members of the community to celebrate the groundbreaking of7th and Jackson Resiliency Park, a 2-acre park and public gymnasium as part of the 700 Jackson Street development project.
“This park will bring much-needed open space to a growing mixed-use, transit-oriented neighborhood and will build upon our flood resiliency strategy,†said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “I thank the City Council, Bijou Properties, Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, and members of the community who worked together to make this possible.†
The Bayonne Police Department will hold a public auto auction Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announced the auction will be held Tuesday, February 7, at 9:30 a.m., at the Bayonne Police Pound, 330 Hook Road, in Bayonne. The vehicles that will be featured at the auction came into the possession of the Police Department as a result of abandonment or failure of owners to claim them.
