Hudson County Community College’s Class of 2012 Reflects the ‘New’ Face of College Students

Full-time workers, immigrants, armed services veterans, single moms and fifty-something-years-young men and women among the 1,060 students who will receive Associate degrees at the College’s 34th Commencement.

 

May 18, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – “We all have a story; our stories consist of both amazing and horrific moments. We all have experienced bumps and tribulations along the way, and at one point we have made choices that sometimes leave regret.” So wrote Danielle Travelino of Bayonne, referring to her own experience and those of her fellow graduates in Hudson County Community College’s Class of 2012.

The 28-year-old mom first began her college studies at a university in 2001, but after just a month, she withdrew from classes. Hudson County Community College to Hold 34th Commencement Exercises on May 23

More than 900 students will be awarded Associate degrees at the ceremonies at New Jersey Performing Arts Center                                                                             

                                                                                                                       

 

         Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Glen Gabert and members of the  College’s faculty and staff; HCCC Board of Trustees members including James Fife and               Karen Fahrenholz; Hudson County Executive Thomas A. HCCC Fine Arts Students to Display Works in Gallery at Brennan Courthouse

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / April 11, 2012 — Hudson County Community College’s Fine Arts Department is currently exhibiting artwork of several students now through Monday, May 7, 2012. The exhibit is located at The Brennan Gallery, in the rotunda of the Justice William J. Brennan Jr. Courthouse, 583 Newark Avenue, Jersey City. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

A reception will be held for the artists on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

 

Hudson County Community College and Saint Peter’s College Sign Historic Transfer Agreement

Agreement will enable HCCC Associate’s degree grads to continue studies towards Bachelor’s degrees at SPC at NJ state college tuition rates

March 23, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – On Wednesday morning, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Glen Gabert and Saint Peter’s College (SPC) President Dr. Eugene Cornacchia signed a memorandum of agreement that will allow HCCC graduates to transfer their credits to, and complete their baccalaureate studies at, SPC for the same tuition students would pay at a New Jersey state college. The signing of the agreement took place in the HCCC Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center on the College’s Journal Square Campus in Jersey City.

Applications Being Accepted for Foundation Scholarships at Hudson County Community College

  JERSEY CITY, N.J. / February 23, 2012 — The Hudson County Community College Foundation has numerous scholarships available for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters.

 The HCCC Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications from students who are enrolled in the current academic year and new students who have completed the College’s admission application and assessment process. Applications are available in both English and Spanish through the HCCC Foundation Office ((201) 360-4006) and online at http://www.hccc.edu/FoundationScholarship/. The submission deadline is June 1.

 Student applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria for an HCCC Foundation scholarship: Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and living in Hudson County; applicants may not receive more than one HCCC Foundation scholarship; applicants must submit a financial aid form (FAFSA) and supporting materials; scholarships are for tuition purposes only and may not be applied towards books, fees or outstanding balances from previous semesters.

 The Hudson County Community College Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation providing tax-exempt status to contributors. The organization, which was founded in 1997, is dedicated to generating financial support for the College and its students, developing needs-based and merit scholarships, and providing seed money for innovative faculty development programs, and for the College’s physical expansion.

HCCC Announces Alumni Celebration Scheduled for November 7

 JERSEY CITY, N.J. / October 18, 2011 — Hudson County Community College Vice President for Development Joseph D. Sansone announced that the College has scheduled the Fourth Annual Hudson County Community College 2011 Alumni Celebration for 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening, November 7. The event will be held in the College’s Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center at 161 Newkirk Street — just two blocks from the Journal Square PATH Station in Jersey City. The $50 donation includes cocktails and dinner.

Hudson County Community College to Host College-Wide Open House

July 18, 2011, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College invites prospective students to become better acquainted with the College at its Open House on Thursday, August 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Open House will be held at the College’s Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City, just two blocks from the Journal Square PATH Station.  In addition to information about HCCC’s course offerings and degree and certificate programs, members of the College staff will be available to acquaint attendees with the financial aid and student support services HCCC provides.

Hudson County Community College offers courses during sunrise (early morning), day and evening hours, online and on weekends. Fall classes will begin on Wednesday, August 31.

 JERSEY CITY, N.J. / June 23, 2011 – Hudson County Community College is continuing to conduct information sessions to acquaint college graduates with a program that will enable them to become licensed teachers. The next session will be held on Tuesday, July 12, at 6 p.m. at the College’s Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City. The Everything Jersey City Festival will Celebrate Community Pride and UEZ Support at a Time when Budget Cuts Loom

 If you don’t know by now, one-third of Jersey City is a designated Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ\) a designation that offers local businesses tax and other financial incentives to help grow their businesses and stimulate local economy.  Sale tax revenues generated by UEZ businesses go for economic development and neighborhood improvements like street lights, paving, flowerboxes — and other programs that give constituents a feeling of pride in their community.

To celebrate the UEZ’s success revitalizing the Heights section of Jersey City – the neighborhood nestled on the cliff above Hoboken – the Central Avenue Special Improvement District (CASID) Management Corporation presents the Everything Jersey City Festival which takes place Sat., May 21st from 11 am-to-6 pm along Central Avenue from Congress to Hutton Streets. Hudson County Community College Summer/Fall 2011 Course Catalog Now Available In Print and Online

 

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / April 14, 2011 – Hudson County Community College’s course schedules for the Summer and Fall 2011 terms are now available on campus and in Adobe Acrobat format at the College’s web site, http://www.hccc.edu/schedule.
 
Summer Session one will begin on Wednesday, May 18 and end on Thursday, June 30. Classes for Summer Session II will begin on Tuesday, July 5, and end on Monday, Aug. 15. Fall courses will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Registration for Summer and Fall is currently underway. Eligible students may register online at the College’s MyHudson portal, https://myhudson.hccc.edu.
