 Bayonne remains under a state of emergency. A mandatory overnight curfew remains in effect from 6:00 p.m. until further notice. For your safety, residents are instructed to remain at home or in secure locations as much as possible over the next several days.
Electric power: Today, Sunday, November 4, PSE&G informed that City of Bayonne that they expect to restore electric power to most of Bayonne by the latter part of Monday, November 5. If you sustained losses or damage from Hurricane Sandy, you may be eligible for disaster aid. You can call to apply: 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585. MAYOR MARK A. SMITH HAS DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE CITY OF BAYONNE, EFFECTIVE AT 6:00 P.M. SUNDAY NIGHT. WE ASK THAT ALL NON-ESSENTIAL VEHICLES STAY OFF THE ROADS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. HIGH WINDS AND HEAVY RAINS ARE EXPECTED. THE CITY OF BAYONNE IS ASKING RESIDENTS TO AVOID PARKING IN AREAS THAT HAVE FLOODED IN THE PAST. WE SUGGEST THAT RESIDENTS IN FLOOD-PRONE AREAS MOVE THEIR VEHICLES TO PUBLIC SCHOOL PARKING LOTS. ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL PARKING LOTS WILL BE OPEN FOR PUBLIC PARKING DURING THE EMERGENCY, BEGINNING AT 6:00 P.M. SUNDAY. The Fine and Performing Arts Academy at Bayonne High School hosts the first Monthly Student Showcase of the Year
Fine and Performing Arts Academy students at Bayonne High School had the opportunity to share their talents with family, friends, teachers and administrators at the first monthly Student Showcase on Tuesday, September 25th at 6:30 PM in the Alexander X. O’Connor Auditorium.
              All Arts Academy students are required to perform or present an original work three times throughout the school year at a monthly Showcase. Performances include vocal solos, instrumental solos or ensembles, dramatic monologues, readings of original writing, or the presentation of original artwork. Centennial Celebration of Landmark Park Scheduled for September 15th-Tour Park with PealCollection
Although the official dedication of Hudson County Park took place in 1916, it was a hundred years ago in 1912 that the park (now called the Stephen R. Gregg Hudson County Bayonne Park) first opened to the public. PealCollection partners, Priscilla Ege and Alice Lotosky invite the public to celebrate this centennial by taking a 90-minute “Park by Design†tour (free to the public) of the landmark on Saturday, September 15th at 10AM. The guest tour guide will be Dr. Carmela A. Karnoutsos, Professor Emerita, New Jersey City University, who will discuss the park’s history, design and architectural features. The group meets at the park entrance on 40th Street and Avenue C.  Call 201-437-6069 and leave a call back number. Summer Day Camp Registration by the Recreation Division of Bayonne Being Held June 25th, 26th and 27th
Mayor Mark A. Smith has announced that the Recreation Division will hold registration for its summer day camps on Monday, June 25th, Tuesday, June 26th, and Wednesday, June 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  Sign-ups for the downtown camp will be held at Mary J. Donohoe School on East 5th Street. Registration for the uptown camp will be at Horace Mann School on West 38th Street. For the midtown camp, registration will take place at DiDomenico-16th Street Park, on the first floor of the Recreation office, located behind the handball courts. SPACE SHUTTLE ENTERPRISE SITS IN BAYONNE WAITING FOR ITS TRIP TO PORT ELIZABETH

With the Jersey City and New York Skyline in the background, the Space Shuttle Enterprise rests on a Weeks Marine barge.
The Space Shuttle will sit at Weeks until Tuesday morning then transferred by Barge to Port Elizabeth before its last journey to The Intrepid Sea,  Air and Space Museum  in New York   where it will be permanently on display.
Bayonne Awarded $15,000 Let’s Play Grant From Dr Pepper Snapple Group
Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that Dr Pepper Snapple Group and national non-profit KaBOOM! have awarded the City of Bayonne a $15,000 Let’s Play Community Construction Grant. The funding will support the reconstruction of the playground at Cottage Street Park. The grant is part of the Let’s Play initiative introduced in November of 2010 – a $15 million, three-year commitment from Dr Pepper Snapple Group to KaBOOM!, the national non-profit saving play by ensuring there is a great place to play within walking distance of every child. Together through Let’s Play, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM! will build or fix up 2,000 playgrounds by the end of 2013, benefitting an estimated five million children across North America.
