THE CITY OF BAYONNE HAS ISSUED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION ABOUT HURRICANE SANDY:

MAYOR MARK A. SMITH HAS DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE CITY OF BAYONNE, EFFECTIVE AT 6:00 P.M. SUNDAY NIGHT. WE ASK THAT ALL NON-ESSENTIAL VEHICLES STAY OFF THE ROADS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. HIGH WINDS AND HEAVY RAINS ARE EXPECTED. THE CITY OF BAYONNE IS ASKING RESIDENTS TO AVOID PARKING IN AREAS THAT HAVE FLOODED IN THE PAST. WE SUGGEST THAT RESIDENTS IN FLOOD-PRONE AREAS MOVE THEIR VEHICLES TO PUBLIC SCHOOL PARKING LOTS. ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL PARKING LOTS WILL BE OPEN FOR PUBLIC PARKING DURING THE EMERGENCY, BEGINNING AT 6:00 P.M. SUNDAY.
