PealCollection Walking Tours

PealCollection partners Priscilla Ege and Alice Lotosky will be highlighting the “8th Street District” in Bayonne on its third annual walking tour of the area on Sunday, August 9th.  The tour will start at 1PM on 8th Street and Kennedy Boulevard in front of the DesPestre-O’Brien-Zeik house, designated a local landmark by the Bayonne Historic Preservation Commission.

The walk will continue along 8th Street to Broadway and will highlight prominent row houses and office buildings which still have their original architectural details. The one-hour walk will end with a visit to the Joyce-Herbert Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 226 Veterans Museum on West 9th Street, Bayonne where military memorabilia and cabinets of rare war collections from foreign and civil wars are on display.

The goal of all PealCollection walking tours is to highlight the historical significance of Bayonne and to give people an appreciation of the prominent buildings and architecture still present throughout the town.

The fee is $15, a portion of which will be donated to the Veterans Museum.  Call 201-339-4093 to make a reservation.
