Jersey City 1st to Introduce Electric Police Cars & Garbage Trucks under Executive Order for Full Electrification by 2030
 Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today the expansive implementation of electric vehicles throughout Jersey City’s municipal fleet to become the first on the East Coast with fully electric garbage trucks and some of the first EV Police response vehicles. The infrastructure advancements to New Jersey’s largest municipal fleet fall under the Mayor’s Executive Order to require 10% of all new municipal fleet vehicles to be fully electric this year where available, with a goal of 100% of new municipal fleet vehicles to be fully electric by 2030.
The members of the Jersey City Arts Fund Committee are asking for feedback from Jersey City voters regarding the Jersey City Arts Fund Referendum slated for the November 2020 Ballot. In February 2020, the City Council approved a referendum ballot question that would establish a Jersey City Arts Fund (JCAF) to support local arts and culture organizations, artists, arts education, and more. Money for the Fund would be raised through a small property tax. The City Council has indicated that they would set the tax at either a quarter-penny or half-penny per $100 of assessed property value, but have set a cap of 2 cents per $100:
Jersey City’s Latest Boost for Business Owners Help with Lost Revenues and Jobs due to COVID-19 Shutdown; Applications to Open for CARES Act Stimulus Funding
JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop joined Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise today to announce Jersey City as the recipient of nearly $7 million from the initial allocation of the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Securities (CARES) Act stimulus funds to directly benefit small businesses in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hudson County was allocated a total of over $117 million through the CARES Act which was signed by the President in March to provide $2 trillion in financial aid to families and businesses across the nation impacted by the health and economic crisis.
Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Mayor Jimmy Davis has announced that the Mayor G. Thomas DiDomenico Municipal Pool is open now for the summer season through Labor Day, Monday, September 7, as weather and public health may permit. The pool is located on West 16th Street, west of Avenue A, on the upper level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park.
The Recreation Division will follow the New Jersey Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outdoor Pool Standards.
Hours of Operation:
The pool will be closed to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to allow City Day Camps access.
The pool will open at 1:00.p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and close at 6:00pm.

JULY 4TH FLYOVER: The US Military will be conducting a large flyover in our area tomorrow. The celebration is called “Salute to the Great Cities of the American Revolutionâ€. This flyover will begin in Boston and work its way down to us in the NYC area, then Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC. The planes (large assortment of B-1B, B2 Stealth, B-52, F-15, F-22, and F-35) will fly south along the Hudson River towards our area and out over the Verrazano Bridge at approximately 5pm. This time is tentative and can change. The best viewing areas will be along the east side of Bayonne and Jersey City.
Hoboken’s “open streets†program will continue this weekend along Hoboken’s waterfront on Sinatra Drive and other nearby streets announced Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla today. Hoboken’s “open†and “slow†streets program, which provides additional space for socially distant outdoor activities and alleviates overcrowding in other public locations, has been utilized by thousands of residents over the past two months. Permitted activities along the open streets include biking, walking and jogging, while congregating is prohibited. Face masks are required when utilizing the open streets.
“We are continuing to make the best use of our public spaces for outdoor activities, which we know are a safer alternative to gathering indoors,” said Mayor Bhalla. “Our open and slow streets programs have provided residents with more room to walk, jog and bike while remaining socially distant. Outdoor exercise is an important part of remaining healthy during this pandemic and we encourage our residents to take advantage of our open streets this July 4 weekend.â€
The complete list of open streets, which restricts vehicular traffic, include:
Sinatra Drive between Newark Street and 11th Street: 8 am until 11 pm (July 4), 8 am until 8 pm (July 5)
Sinatra Drive North between Sinatra Drive and 12th Street: 8 am until 11 pm (July 4), 8 am until 8 pm (July 5)
Hudson Street between 11th Street and 14th Street: 4 pm until 11 pm (July 4)
14th Street between Hudson Street and Sinatra Drive North: 4 pm until 11 pm (July 4)
Residents with vehicles legally parked along Sinatra Drive and other open streets do not need to move their cars. No parking signs, if posted, should continue to be observed. If residents need to utilize vehicles parked along the open streets over the weekend, they are encouraged to move vehicles outside of the hours of the open streets. Vehicles can be accessed during the hours of operation of the open streets by proceeding with extreme caution and driving no more than 5 miles per hour.

City also Reopens Playgrounds and Public Splash Pads Following Safety Precautions & Regular Cleaning Schedules
Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today the reopening of two public pools as well as all city playgrounds and splash pads as the scorching summer temperatures set in and the city works to reopen its public spaces and services to the community at large, on the heels of three-plus months of the pandemic lockdown. The recent summer heat spell has beckoned the call to open municipal pools, and following the state’s lifting of restrictions, the city will start to reopen the outdoor pools to the public tomorrow – with all social distancing protocols strictly enforced.
