| Bayonne remains under a state of emergency. A mandatory overnight curfew remains in effect from 6:00 p.m. until further notice. For your safety, residents are instructed to remain at home or in secure locations as much as possible over the next several days. Electric power: Some parts of Bayonne are still without electric power. We have been in daily contact with PSE&G about restoring power throughout the city. Got Gas? You Bet We Do! Gov. Chris Christie’s Gas Rationing System Begins Tomorrow in 12 New Jersey Counties
Starting tomorrow (Sat, Nov. 3) at 12 noon, New Jersey drivers will be able to roll up to the pump for some much-needed gas. Gov. Christie announced today that a gas-dispensing system has been put in place that will allow drivers in 12 New Jersey Counties to fuel up.
As of tomorrow, cars with license plates that end in an odd number will be able to gas up on odd-numbered days and cars with license plates that end in an even number can line up at the pumps on even-numbered days. Specialty license plates and vanity plates without numbers are considered odd-numbered plates
“With the challenges we face in the storm’s aftermath, we will be vigilant in enforcing this odd-even system, as we ease the stresses on the system,” Attorney General Jeffery S. Chiesa said in a prepared statement. “Those who choose to disregard this order will be prosecuted to the fullest.â€
Jersey City OEM Calls for Evacuation Shelters Activated, Schools Closed Parking Suspended for Hurricane Sandy
JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, in conjunction the Office of Emergency Management, has issued a mandatory evacuation of residents for 7 a.m. Monday morning for designated flood zones and low-lying regions due to the anticipated severe flooding associated with Hurricane Sandy.
 Residents in traditional flood zones and low lying areas of the city are urged to relocate to higher ground and or shelter with family and friends as soon as possible prior to the mandatory evacuation Monday morning, Healy said. Accordingly, emergency shelters across the city will be open by 8 p.m. (Sunday night) to residents of flood zones who had not already relocated with family. MAYOR MARK A. SMITH HAS DECLARED A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE CITY OF BAYONNE, EFFECTIVE AT 6:00 P.M. SUNDAY NIGHT. WE ASK THAT ALL NON-ESSENTIAL VEHICLES STAY OFF THE ROADS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. HIGH WINDS AND HEAVY RAINS ARE EXPECTED. THE CITY OF BAYONNE IS ASKING RESIDENTS TO AVOID PARKING IN AREAS THAT HAVE FLOODED IN THE PAST. WE SUGGEST THAT RESIDENTS IN FLOOD-PRONE AREAS MOVE THEIR VEHICLES TO PUBLIC SCHOOL PARKING LOTS. – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, in conjunction the Office of Emergency Management , announced today that city officials have been meeting and are closely monitoring Hurricane Sandy , which has the potential to impact the entire East Coast beginning early Monday into Halloween.
Current forecasts from the National Weather Service indicate Hurricane Sandy, which will likely return to tropical storm status as it makes its way north, could bring more than 5 inches of rain wind gusts from 50 to 70 mph to our area. JERSEY CITY, N.J. / October 26, 2012 — On Tuesday, Oct. 23, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) hosted a ceremony marking the beginning of the second phase of construction of its new Learning Resource Center & Academic Building Ground was broken for the new Learning Resources Center & Academic Building in November of 2011, and since then the site has been excavated and the foundation constructed.
