Union City’s St. Augustine’s School Unveils New Science Labs

St. Augustine’s School in Union City will unveil their renovated science labs, which feature new equipment and display students’ works on December 6th.

 

New Science center at St. Augenstine's in Union City Union City, NJ, 6 December 2012 – St. Augustine’s School in Union City will be unveiling their renovated science labs on Thursday, December 6th.   To celebrate the occasion, the school will open its doors to friends from 8:30 am to 5 pm and from 6:30 until 9. Guests will be able to view the students’ work since September as well as the new facility and equipment.

 The road to renovation began in May when St. Augustine received the Raskoband Sisters of Charity Grants.  Mrs. San Diego and Mrs. Damiano, 4-6 Grade and 7-8 Grade science teachers respectively, along with Sr. Johanna Quinto, Development Director, spent the summer putting together the supplies for the labs. Among the acquired supplies are digital microscopes, slides, magnets, K’Nex kits, radiometers, solar hot airballoons, prisms and several learning kits.

Florham Park, New Jersey, December 5, 2012 –In an effort to share the extraordinary “12-12-12” concert for Sandy Relief with many of those most impacted by this storm, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, The Madison Square Garden Company and The Weinstein Company today announced that this unprecedented event will be simulcast live in select movie theaters in hurricane-affected areas throughout the tri-state region, including in eight Clearview Cinemas, two Frank Theatres, a Marquee Cinema, a National Amusements Multiplex and a Rave Cinemas Multiplex in New Jersey. This presentation will be FREE of charge to all attendees and complimentary refreshments will be provided.

Select Clearview Cinemas in Closter, Kinnelon, Ocean, Parsippany, Ridgewood, South Orange, Succasunna and Wayne; the Frank Theatres in Bayonne and Egg Harbor Township; a Marquee Cinema in Toms River; a National Amusements Multiplex in Edgewater; and a Rave Cinemas Multiplex in Hazlet will participate. Marist High School Students Go to the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet!

Marist Flamenco Dancers On November 15th Marist High School’s Spanish teacher, Ms. Gonzalez took students to the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet held at the Park Performing Arts Center in Union City. This is the sixth year that Marist students have traveled to see the show. Marist High School Student Matthew Cabrera said : “I had such a good time last year, I went again this year.”  The show demonstrated different dances from different parts of the world. The show included dances from Argentina, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Native instruments and clothing also provided an extra treat for the audience. The show was very interactive calling for audience participation between dance performances. It is important to the Marist High School Administration that the students experience other cultures, so that they become well- rounded citizens.

recovery program exclusive to small businesses located in Jersey City that have been

Bayonne Community Cancer Support Group Kicks-Off Toy & Gift Drive

 Each year the Bayonne Community Cancer support group with the help of the  members of the community provides toys and gifts for children who are receiving treatment for cancer and blood disorders. Intensive medication, frequent clinic visits, and hospitalizations all pose added challenges to these children’s growth and development. By providing opportunities to observe and celebrate special events we help these families maintain a sense of normalcy. The Bayonne Community Cancer Support Groups goal is that each child be able to experience the joy of receiving a special gift knowing that others care for them and wish them well.

They are asking community members to lend their support by donating gifts and toys for infants, toddlers, school-age children and young teens which we bring to children being treated for cancer at seven area hospitals that treat pediatric oncology patients; Beth Israel Medical Center, Hackensack University Hospital, Robert-Wood Johnson University Hospital, St. Peter’s University Hospital, Morristown Memorial Hospital, Overlook Hospital and St. Joseph’s Children Hospital as well as the pediatric floor of Bayonne Medical Center, our local Emergency Room and Family Clinic. Hudson County Community College Offers Associate in Arts Degree with Theatre Arts Option

  New program being coordinated by veteran actor, playwright/screenwriter, producer and professor, Joseph Gallo

Hudson County community College Logo November 29, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – Students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree or higher in  theatre arts may now begin their journey by earning an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts with a Theatre Option from Hudson County Community College.

The new program has been designed to provide students with a broad-based liberal arts curriculum and core theatre options, including Introduction to Acting, Introduction to Theatre, Introduction to Drama, Contemporary Drama, Acting II, and Intro To Playwriting, and will prepare them for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Hudson County Community College is arranging for articulation agreements with New Jersey City University and Kean University, amongst others, thus allowing for credits earned at HCCC to be transferred.

HCCC President Dr. Glen Gabert said the Theatre Arts program is being coordinated by Joseph Gallo, a seasoned theatre professional with a diverse background. November 29, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College Foundation will hold the largest and most festive of its annual fundraisers — the 15th Annual Holiday Gala — at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, December 6, 2012 at the HCCC Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center ‑ 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to scholarships for deserving students, faculty development programs, and the College’s physical expansion.
