– Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, in conjunction the Office of Emergency Management , announced today that city officials have been meeting and are closely monitoring Hurricane Sandy , which has the potential to impact the entire East Coast beginning early Monday into Halloween.
Current forecasts from the National Weather Service indicate Hurricane Sandy, which will likely return to tropical storm status as it makes its way north, could bring more than 5 inches of rain wind gusts from 50 to 70 mph to our area. JERSEY CITY, N.J. / October 26, 2012 — On Tuesday, Oct. 23, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) hosted a ceremony marking the beginning of the second phase of construction of its new Learning Resource Center & Academic Building Ground was broken for the new Learning Resources Center & Academic Building in November of 2011, and since then the site has been excavated and the foundation constructed.

Halloween Pet Parade in Newport, Jersey City

 Canis Minor, a premier dog and cat boutique, invites pet owners and pet lovers alike to kick off Halloween in Jersey City’s Newport with the area’s 7th annual Pet Parade. Dress your furry best friend in the most creative costume you can dream up and get your camera ready for one of the can’t miss events of the season.
There will be treats for both humans and pets to enjoy and a costume parade through Newport that’s wilder than the animal kingdom itself. Best-in-show and runner-up costumes will be selected and honored with exciting prizes.

BAYONNE TRAFFIC ADVISORY: TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSING DURING PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION
| The 5th Street Connector between Route 440 and Ingham Avenue in Bayonne is expected to be closed to traffic until approximately the last week of November 2012. Road closure will be in effect between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Signs will be posted announcing the route of the detour to Avenue A. Any changes in the particulars of the road closing will be announced. Accommodations will be made for any required access to properties within the work zone. The U-turn at Route 440 and 5th Street will remain open. The road closing is due to the construction of the Spectra natural gas pipeline. Henkels and McCoy, a building contractor, is carrying out the work. The company regrets any inconvenience that the work may cause.
