JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency (JCRA), and the Department of Housing, Economic Development and Commerce (HEDC) announce an agreement for construction of the first phase of Bayfront, the largest mixed-income development site in the region.
Of interest to Hudson County Veterans and surrounding areas
VA is moving forward with a phased approach for expanding select services that were put on hold due to the coronavirus at medical facilities across the country. Our goal is to care for Veterans who have the greatest clinical need while ensuring a safe environment for both employees and Veterans.
VA facilities may not expand to a full spectrum of care immediately. In resuming services, VA facilities will consider the unique circumstances of each state and local government, environmental safety preparedness, and clinical risk assessments to assure the safest possible environment.
Due to the trend of COVID-19 cases in Southwest Michigan still flattening, our facility is not yet ready to expand services. Facilities selected as lead sites were chosen because they align with VA, federal, state, and local guidance and meet the White House “Guidelines for Opening Up America†gating criteria for expanding services. Gating criteria are requirements that each region or state should meet before reintroducing select services, such as a decline in COVID-19 cases during a 14-day period.
Once the Battle Creek VA Medical Center has met the gating criteria, it will be phased into VA’s plan for expanding care. In the meantime, we will benefit from data, lessons learned, and best practices from the lead sites’ experiences.
Based on current data, we expect to slowly begin to expand services on June 15, 2020. Please note that expanded services will be by appointment. Please call to make an appointment before visiting. The preferred method of care until we meet criteria is using virtual care when possible.

Fulop announces the expansion of the Newark Ave Pedestrian Mall to extend outdoor restaurant seating along “Restaurant Row†and safe pedestrian accessibility in an effort to encourage best practices for social distancing during the current global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as support its financially troubled restaurant community.Â
With the expectation that once the State of NJ lifts restrictions on restaurants they will still include additional rules with limited indoor seating, the city has set a process to expand outdoor seating for restaurants. Since Jersey City announced the application process for more outdoor restaurant seating, the city has already had nearly 40 restaurants apply.

May 28, 2020, Jersey City, NJ – Over the past few days, chefs, professors and staff from the Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Division of Business, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management have been working with Broadway and TV star Tituss Burgess to prepare over 300 hot lunches for clients of Let’s Celebrate. The HCCC staff plated and served the to-go meals on Friday, May 22 at the Let’s Celebrate Square Meal Soup Kitchen, 46 Fairview Avenue in Jersey City.

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla, Riverside Medical and Council President Jen Giattino today announced that all employees of any local Hoboken business are now eligible for rapid, COVID-19 testing through the Riverside testing location in Hoboken. The testing expansion reflects Hoboken’s commitment to assisting small businesses with additional safety precautions in preparation for a gradual re-opening. Employees of Hoboken businesses do not need to have COVID-19 symptoms in order to receive a test.
