Patricia Bossert was presented with a Merit Award for her artwork in the 21st Annual Emerging Artists Exhibit sponsored by the Art Administrators of New Jersey. This exhibit featured artwork produced by students who are studying art in high schools throughout the state of New Jersey.

The Three Doctors to Appear at Hudson County Community College on April 2 

Inspiring Trio — and Noted Authors — Will Speak in the Final Installment of the College’s FREE Lecture Series This Year

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Drs. Sampson Davis, Rameck Hunt and George Jenkins, whose friendship and concern for one another propelled them from Newark’s mean streets to college and medical school to international fame, will appear as guest speakers in the final installment of Hudson County Community College’s 2008-2009 Community Lecture Series. The inspiring trio, who are fondly known as “The Three Doctors,” will be at the College’s Culinary Arts nstitute/Conference Center ( 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City) on Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m.

R.I.P. Jose “Chequi” Torres

When we think of the world of boxing and its inhabitants, probably the last thing we consider is the intellect of the persons wearing the gloves and trunks. Yet, by virtue of writing two of the best books on two of boxing’s most compelling figures; writing a regular city side column for The New York POST; being a political activist and campaigner for Bobby Kennedy, as well as being a regular at legendary literary boite, Elaine’s, former world light heavyweight champion Jose “Chequi” Torres transcended the sport and became a man of letters.

Bayonne High School  – ART ACADEMY TOO

As an initiative for the 2009 school year, Bayonne High
School will be offering an Arts Academy for 9 through 12
graders.  Admission to the program is based on multiple
criteria and limited to a select group, as the program is
designed for students with a passion for the arts and a
strong inclination to pursue the arts as a possible career
choice. Interested students and their parents are invited
to an information session on Monday, February 23, 2009 at
6:30 p.m. in the Bayonne High School Library; please use
Door #1, BHS Main Entrance, between 27th and 28th Streets.
