Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that Lowe’s Home Improvement has sponsored two beautification projects in Bayonne, one by the 14 A Turnpike interchange and the other at DiDomenico-16th Street Park. Lowe’s carried out the community programs as part of its Heroes Project, a company volunteer program. Lowe’s contacted the Bayonne Department of Public Works to find out some ways in which they could be helpful to the community. After consulting with Public Works Director Tom Cotter, the Lowe’s volunteers began their work in two parts of Bayonne during the month of October.
The first Lowe’s project took place around the Bayonne welcome sign that is located immediately south of the 14 A Turnpike interchange. The volunteers from Lowe’s installed shrubs and mums (flowers) near the Turnpike. The goal of the work was to improve the appearance of the entry way to Bayonne.
The second Lowe’s project focused on the garden by the special needs playground on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park. The Lowe’s volunteers placed shrubs, mums, bales of hay, and pumpkins there. The purpose of this activity was to enhance the appearance of the park with an autumn theme.
The following Lowe’s employees worked on the beautification projects:

Mayor Davis said, “On behalf of the City of Bayonne, we would like to thank the volunteers from the Lowe’s Heroes Project for their generosity to Bayonne. The two projects help improve the appearance of Bayonne. We are very appreciative of their efforts to give back to the community. We look forward to working together with Lowe’s on other beatification projects in the near future.â€

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) has selected Professor Joseph Caniglia to serve as Executive Director of the College’s comprehensive North Hudson Campus in Union City, New Jersey.
“Professor Caniglia has served the College for many years in multiple capacities,†HCCC President Dr. Christopher Reber stated. “We are confident that he will continue his hard work, dedication, and commitment to the growth of the North Hudson Campus in service to the residents of Union City and other communities in Hudson County.â€
Nearly 3,000 students pursue studies at the HCCC North Hudson Campus each semester. In addition to classrooms with SMART-boards and Wi-Fi, the seven-story, nearly 100,000 square-foot building at 4800 Kennedy Boulevard in Union City houses a fully operational Library and Bookstore; an Enrollment Center with Enrollment Services, Bursar, Financial Aid, Testing and Assessment, Academic Advisement, and Community Education Offices; Academic Support Center; Computer, Science and Language Labs; Student Lounge; Outdoor Courtyard; and Multipurpose Room. A glass-enclosed pedestrian bridge connects the building to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Bergenline Avenue Transit Center.
Joseph Caniglia’s 25 years of experience as an educator includes service as a public-school teacher and administrator, Professor of English and Developmental Education, Interim Associate Dean for the College’s English, and English as a Second Language Division. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercy College-Pace University, a Master of Science degree in Education and Reading from New Paltz University, and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Higher Education Administration from Grambling State University, where he is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration.
“I believe passionately in education’s transformational impact,†Director Canigilia stated. “As the new Executive Director of the College’s North Hudson Campus, I will collaborate with staff and all members of the North Hudson and Journal Square campuses to support and encourage students to excel in their academic and personal careers.â€

Childhood acute myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes a large number of abnoraml blood cells.
At the October 23rd event a large crowd turned out to support Connor and his family besides the charity game there was also a 50/50 and drawings to win gifts.

JERSEY CITY—October 14, 2021—Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) hosts a gallery art exhibition opening and short documentary film screening of “Sister Cities: Discovering Common Threads” featuring the work of 2021 Jersey City Summer Youth Mural Arts Program participants on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at White Eagle Hall (337 Newark Ave., Jersey City).
The Jersey City Summer Youth Mural Arts Program is a hands-on, intensive muralist workshop for young artists led by fine artist and filmmaker Duda Penteado fine artist and muralist Catherine Hart, both from Jersey City. Thirty students ages 13 to 25 participated in 2021’s six-week program, chosen from a pool of over 100 applicants. The student artists installed a 100-foot by 30-foot mural at James J. Ferris High School (35 Colgate St., Jersey City), inspired by the 22 sister cities across 19 countries with whom Jersey City has a sister city relationship.
“Sister Cities: Discovering Common Threads,” a short documentary film directed by Penteado and produced by Unshakeable Productions, captures the creative process of the student artists, who formed small teams to work on specific sections of the wall. Throughout the six weeks, participants received instruction on public art techniques, concept development, surface preparation, design enlargement, paint application, and preservation of outdoor art.
“The mural is meant to inspire dialogue within the community of Jersey City. The students worked together with the art instructors putting together the final layout that would be placed on the wall, selecting inspiring figures, places, and cultural elements from the different cities and countries,” said Penteado. “The program instills in students a comprehensive work ethic that is essential to a future career as professional artists,” adds JCTC’s executive producer Olga Levina.

On Thursday, October 14, 2021, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) accepted the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) 2021 Equity Award for Northeastern United States. The award was presented at the Regional Awards Luncheon of the 52nd Annual ACCT Leadership Congress in San Diego, California. This recognition honors the College’s leadership in setting policies within the last five years that promote and enhance opportunities for institutional diversity, inclusion, and equity for women, persons of color, LGBTQs, and members of any other underrepresented and underserved population.
