COVID-19 POSITIVE CASES FOR BAYONNE FALLS BELOW 500 FOR JUNE 14, 2020

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 493*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 609 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.  We are continuing to see a steady decline in current positive residents in the city.

NUMEROUS BUSINESSES ARE REOPENING TOMORROW 6/15, AS WE MAKE OUR WAY BACK.

GOVERNOR’S DIRECTIVES: We are all under the governance of the Executive Orders that are coming from the Governor.  As of late, there have been many changes to these orders that affect each of us.  Please go to www.covid19.nj.gov or see the Governor’s social media for the latest information.

TESTING:  There are numerous options for COVID-19 or Anitbody testing in Bayonne.  Dial 2-1-1 or go to www.covid19.nj.gov for any/all testing sites throughout the state of NJ.  Testing at Veterans Stadium has ENDED.  Anyone getting an appointment for a test by a Bayonne physician by the Bayonne Medical Center, will be tested on their property.  The BMC is also testing senior citizens at all the various senior congregate housing in the city.

MASKS:  There is no mandate by the State of New Jersey or the City of Bayonne that requires healthy individuals to wear a mask when outdoors.  Masks must be worn when in stores.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 660*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 385 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.  The availability of test options has increased and the number of current positive residents continues to decrease.

TESTING:  The Bayonne Medical Center continues to perform testing for COVID-19 at Veterans Stadium each weekday.  Your physician can make you an appointment for this testing.  Rite-Aid at 1097 Broadway is also performing COVID-19 testing.  This testing is free and is open to anyone (regardless if you have symptoms or not).  Go to riteaid.com to make an appointment.  CityMD is doing Antibody testing.

RECYCLING:  This is the final alternate recycling pick-up.  Please put out cardboard/paper only tonight.  Next week we return to normal recycling schedule throughout the city.

PARKING: Beginning Monday, June 1st, all temporary reserved parking spaces reserved for food pick up will be eliminated.  Normal parking rules/regulations are back in effect.  Residential Zone parking regulations remain suspended until further notice.

nEW covid-19 update for bayonne 5/26/2020

COVID-19 Cases in Bayonne continue to decline

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Mayor Davis has informed us that a 72yr old female has died from Coronavirus-related illness.  This is Bayonne’s 70th death from this pandemic.  Mayor Davis extends his deepest condolences to the family of this resident.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 668*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 369 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.  We continue to see a decline in current positive cases in the city, despite the increased testing.  This is great news.

NEW BAYONNE UPDATE FOR 5/19/2020 COVID-19

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Mayor Davis has announced the passing of a 68yr old male due to Coronavirus-related illness. This death is the 64th in Bayonne due to the pandemic.  Mayor Davis expresses his condolences, on behalf of all of Bayonne, to the family of this neighbor.

PARKING REGULATIONS: ALL parking regulations that have been suspended for the last two months, will come back into today.  Mayor Davis informs us that for next week, warnings will be issued as residents get reacquainted with all parking regulations.  Summonses will be issued for meters, pay lots, residential zone parking on Tuesday 5/26/20.

RECYCLING:  Alternate recycling continues this week of 5/18/20.  On your scheduled recycling day, please put out ONLY plastic/glass/cans this week.  Normal recycling will return the week of 6/1/20.

Mayor Davis has directed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

Mayor Davis has informed us that a 62yr old male has passed away from Coronavirus-related illness.  Bayonne has 59 residents that have died since this pandemic began.  The Mayor expresses his condolences, for the entire community, to the family of our lost neighbor.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 708*

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 248 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.  This is the third day in a row of day over day reductions in current positive residents.

NJ DIRECTIVES: The governor has announced the relaxation of several key directives effective Monday, May 18th.  All non-essential construction may start up.  All non-essential businesses may reopen with curbside service, and drive-in events can restart (with social distancing).  We will post all the details tomorrow.

MASKS: The State of NJ and the City of Bayonne HAVE NO REQUIREMENT TO WEAR A MASK WHEN OUTDOORS.  Masks may be worn outdoors, if you choose, and should be worn outdoors when social distancing is not possible.  Masks MUST be worn indoors when shopping.

BMC TESTING: Bayonne Medical Center is conducting testing each weekday at Veterans Stadium.  All doctors within the city can schedule their patients for testing at this site.  Only patients with a valid appointment for a test will be tested.  Only symptomatic people will be tested.  RiteAid (54th St. & Broadway) has also begun testing.  Anyone over 18 can be tested for free (symptomatic AND asymptomatic). No prescription needed at this free drive-thru test site. Go to riteaid.com for appointment.  Also, CityMD is performing antibody testing.

Mayor Davis has informed us that a 58yr old female has passed away from Coronavirus-related illness.  This resident is our 57th death in Bayonne.  The Mayor expresses his condolences, for the entire community, to the family of this late neighbor.

  • The number above reflects only the Bayonne residents that are CURRENTLY COVID-19 Positive.  We have 225 Bayonne residents that are considered recovered.  Recovered patients, according to the CDC, no longer have to isolate or be reported.  This is day over day reduction in current positive residents.

STREET SWEEPING: The City of Bayonne has begun enforcement of Street Sweeping regulations.  All other suspended parking regulations will REMAIN SUSPENDED (meter, pay lot, residential zone) until further notice.

RECYCLING:  Alternate recycling continues this week (5/11).  On your regular scheduled recycle day only put out CARDBOARD/PAPER.  For next week beginning 5/18 please put out glass/plastic/cans only.

BAYONNE TO HAVE EARTH DAY CLEAN-UP AT HOME ON SATURDAY, APRIL 25

            Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the City of Bayonne will have an Earth Day Clean-Up At Home on Saturday, April 25, with a rain date of Sunday, April 26.  Mayor Davis said, “Earlier this year, we had big plans for a citywide Earth Day clean-up that would have involved groups of people working together, followed by a major celebration.  Due to the Coronavirus, those plans had to be cancelled.”  Mayor Davis continued, “We can still honor Earth Day.  Although we cancelled plans for doing something big leading to a party at DiDomenico-16th Street Park, we can still do something local and effective.  Put on a face mask and gloves, step outside, and clean up around your own home or business.  Let’s try to keep at least the front of our properties tidy. This can make a big difference for our neighborhoods.”

Seven Works of Art Unveiled on Streets in Downtown Bayonne

Seven Works of Art Unveiled

Unveiling of Works of Art in Downtown Bayonne:  City officials joined artists and others for the unveiling of seven works of art that were painted on utility boxes and former fire alarm boxes from 5th Street to 9th Street.  Pictured here is one of the paintings, Aquarium, by Gary Wynans.   It is located on Cottage Street, slightly east of Broadway.  Pictured left to right: Council Member At-Large Juan Perez, Second Ward Council Member Sal Gullace, Mayor Jimmy Davis, City Council President Sharon Ashe  Nadrowski, Mr. Wynans, and First Ward Council Member Tom Cotter.

Bayonne Mayor Davis Expresses Support for Staten Island-Bayonne Aerial Gondola

 Bayonne Mayor James Davis is excited to announce that he has signed on to support the proposed Staten Island to Bayonne Aerial Gondola. Recently, Mayor Davis and Assemblymen Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D-31) and John Wisniewski (D-19) met with representatives from the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) to discuss the project and how to advance it to the next phase –an engineering and feasibility study for the system.

“The City of Bayonne is always looking for innovative ways to improve our mass transit and when the SIEDC presented this idea to me I was intrigued. Thanks to their flexibility and adaptability, aerial gondolas really do present the next frontier of regional transit for the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area and are ideal for an urban environment such as Bayonne” said Mayor Davis.
