With the support of the Film Office of Jersey City and the Mayor’s Office, The Jersey Devil was shot throughout Jersey City earlier in 2014. This legendary theater continues to hold events today and will bring this Hollywood-style premiere to Journal Square, almost 85 years to the day of its opening. In keeping with Mayor Fulop’s vision of making Jersey City a “mecca” for film production, the creators of The Jersey Devil also utilized diverse neighborhoods throughout the city, including the Brightside Tavern in the Paulus Hook neighborhood, New Jersey City University in Greenville and City Hall. In addition to using NJCU as a location in the film, students attending NJCU were also involved in various aspects of the production. The cast and crew dined throughout the shoot on delicious food supplied entirely by Jersey City food vendors and many Jersey City residents from the surrounding location communities were used as extras in the film.
