Artist at Washington Park Jersey City On Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 10 am to 7:30 pm Washington Park Association of Hudson County, Inc. (WPA) unleashes an amazing lineup of entertainers, visual artists and more at the sixth annual Washington Park LIVE! Arts & Music Festival.  (Rain date Saturday, October 3, 2015.)

For the second year in a row, Washington Park LIVE! will be held on Palisade Ave. between Paterson Plank Rd.  and 2nd St. with a live entertainment, a beer garden and several food trucks.  The event will be held on the Jersey City/Union City border in the area of Washington Park adjacent to Palisade Ave. The day promises to be a huge celebration of art, music, dance and community. fulop riding the bikesJersey City, NJ — Citi Bike Jersey City launched with a flourish On Monday, September 21st, 2015 with Mayor Steven M. Fulop joining Jay Walder, President & CEO of Motivate, funders and community supporters to cut the ribbon at the Citi Bike station in the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza, bringing the 350-bike, 35-station system online.

Citi Bike Jersey City is fully supported by sponsorship and other revenues, making it the only bike share system in a mid-size city to operate without public funding.  Citi is the Title Sponsor for the new system.  Four additional organizations – the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, SUEZ North America, CarePoint Health and Jersey City Medical Center–Barnabas Health have been named Founding Sponsors. An investment by Goldman Sachs will allow for the initial purchase of docking stations and bicycles.  Fully interoperable with New York City’s Citi Bike, the system allows those who commute or travel between the two cities to use their memberships in both independent systems.

JC Fridays, a city-wide funhouse of music, art, spoken word, dance, food, arts, crafts and much more fabulousness happens Fri, Sept. 11 with a huge line-up of art shows, music and dance performances, and other events happening throughout the city.

Sponsored by Art House Productions, a Jersey City-based performing and visual arts nonprofit, JC Fridays happens four times a year at the start of every season: March, June, September, and December. (The next JC Fridays will be Fri, Dec.  4th.)

Jersey City — Mayor Steven M. Fulop and Jay Walder, President & CEO of Motivate, today announced sponsors for Jersey City’s new bike share program launching in September. Citi will be the Title Sponsor, and the bike share program will be named Citi Bike. Citi Bike Jersey City and Citi Bike New York will be interoperable programs, meaning membership to one will entitle riders to the same usage in sister market. Four additional organizations– the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, SUEZ North America, CarePoint Health and Jersey City Medical Center–Barnabas Health have been named Founding Sponsors. The program’s website www.citibikejc.com launched today as well. Citi bike stationsAs part of the sponsorship agreements the Title Partner will have their name integrated into the program and exclusive branding on all bikes.  The Founding Partners will have customized benefits that include recognition and advertising at designated stations, recognition on the website and in program materials, and community based events. City of Jersey City Announces Partnership with New Jersey Symphony Orchestra

 Concert Series is Part of  Mayor Steven M. Fulop’s  Administration Efforts to Grow Jersey City as a Cultural Destination

 JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today that the City of Jersey City will partner with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to host a series of free community concerts through a partnership with the PSEG Foundation, as the Fulop administration continues to introduce new cultural events to the City, increase events for families and residents, and grow Jersey City as a destination.

The first New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performance will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 11th, as Mayor Fulop narrates a woodwind quintet in a special arrangement of Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” in City Hall Council Chambers.  Continue reading City of Jersey City Announces Partnership with New Jersey Symphony Orchestra →

NJ Turnpike Construction 14A Toll Plaza Update

14A constuction projectMayor Jimmy Davis announced that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and its contractors have provided the City of Bayonne with updated information about the reconstruction of the Turnpike’s 14A toll plaza.

The first detour connected with the project will take place the week on May 11.  Frontage Road, a west-east connector road north of the toll plaza, will be closed.  More specific information will be announced.  Other detours will take place in autumn 2015, and will be announced.

wings wasn’t making him sweat, Tony Alexander’s friends told him if he didn’t think the sauce was hot enough, he should make his own.

And that’s exactly what Alexander did.

That challenge happened a few years back and now Tony Alexander goes by the nickname Uncle Bud, chief cook and bottle washer for his own brand of sauces guaranteed to bedazzle any dish, even two fried eggs. Alexander sells his sauces at the Riveview Farmers’ Markets on Sundays in the Heights (May-November) and at the Grove Street Plaza for Groove on Grove on Thursdays. Currently, he’s in the process of getting his sauces into a big box store that sells whole foods.

Gimme Shelter Project Organized Stitch In Mar. 8th

The Gimme Shelter Project grew from Michelle Vitale’s work  with the homeless and it is to bring awareness to the 16% homeless increase in New Jersey(taken from the Homeless Point In Time Count).

 

Gimme Shelter Brochure Ms. Vitale has created 8 out of 16 weatherized blankets with the intent to give them away after the full 16 are made. The other 8 have organized Stitch Ins so the community can contribute to the project.

Theater Company to Enrich Jersey City’s Cultural Life with Performances, Readings and Workshops

Sometimes friendships lead to creative collaborations and nobody knows that better than Marsha Trice, Artistic Director of the Phoenix Ensemble theater company in Jersey City. Trice and several company members met taking acting classes and doing plays in college and now they are collaborating as producers, actors, costumers – you name it – as the Phoenix Ensemble once again becomes a viable theater venue on Jersey City’s cultural landscape.

Phoenix Ensemble began in the early 1990s and it has been on again-off again until recently, when the company regrouped with Trice as artistic director with co-founders Tony Wilkes, Oliver Pinkard, Michael Laval and Dave Robinson sharing the helm. Together with producer Michele Baldwin, the creative team supports Phoenix Ensemble’s mission to bring theater, workshops and classes to Jersey City residents, especially to kids and teens who need creative opportunities to express themselves.

CBRE’s New York Tri-State Investment Properties team of Charles Berger and Mark Silverman, of New Jersey Investment Properties, and Elli Klapper, of New York Investment Properties, served as the exclusive agents for the seller and procured the buyer in the transaction. The new owner plans to hold the property as an investment as they expand their existing portfolio in New Jersey.
