Hudson County Community College Foundation Art Collection to Celebrate Four Union City Women Artists at Nov. 30 Reception

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / November 19, 2012 — The Hudson County Community College Foundation (HCCC) Art Collection will host a celebration marking the opening of a permanent art exhibit, “Artwork of the Nuns at the Blue Chapel in Union City, 1930s-1990s,” at the HCCC North Hudson Higher Education Center (NHHEC) on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. JERSEYCITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and officials from the Office of Emergency Management has expanded their hot meal distribution sites for today, Saturday November 3, 2012.

Halloween Pet Parade in Newport, Jersey City

 Canis Minor, a premier dog and cat boutique, invites pet owners and pet lovers alike to kick off Halloween in Jersey City’s Newport with the area’s 7th annual Pet Parade. Dress your furry best friend in the most creative costume you can dream up and get your camera ready for one of the can’t miss events of the season.

There will be treats for both humans and pets to enjoy and a costume parade through Newport that’s wilder than the animal kingdom itself. Best-in-show and runner-up costumes will be selected and honored with exciting prizes.

The pet parade is open to all and FREE to enter or attend. In addition, 10% of sales that day at Canis Minor will be donated to Jersey City’s Liberty Humane Society.

If it ends up raining cats and dogs, plan to come on Sunday, Oct. 28. instead.

Mayor Healy to Kick-­Off Jersey City’s 22nd Annual Artists Studio Tour

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy will kick-off the 2012 Jersey City Artists Studio Tour at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the TenMarc Building, located on 430 Communipaw Avenue. A free shuttle from Grove Street will be available every 15 minutes, starting from 5:15 p.m. – 8:15 p.m., with return service available until closing.

The 2012 Jersey City Artists Studio Tour will take place this weekend, Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October 14th from Noon – 6:00 p.m. This FREE self-guided art tour will feature galleries, artist studios and ad hoc exhibition sites citywide. HCCC President Dr. Glen Gabert Observes 20th Anniversary

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / October 11, 2012 — In September, Hudson County Community College celebrated a special anniversary: President Gabert’s 20-year anniversary as president. In his two decades of service, the College has grown through significant expansion of its facilities, increasing enrollments and partnerships with colleges and organizations to bring more services to College students and local residents and businesses.

Jersey City to Celebrate the Annual Polish Festival

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the Municipal Council and the Division of Cultural Affairs proudly announce the annual Polish Festival which will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26th 2012 on Washington Street, between Sussex and Grand streets.

“The greatness of this country, especially our city, is largely attributed to the contributions that immigrants have made and continue to make,” said Mayor Healy. “Jersey City was densely populated by Polish immigrants and their descendents, many of whom worked at the nearby Colgate Palmolive Soap Factory and other shops located in the old First Ward of Jersey City. Jersey City Offers Free Concerts and Dance this Summer

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, Municipal Council, and the Division of Cultural Affairs host the annual Summerfest Concert Series, the annual Jazz for Lunch Music Series, Free Concerts at the MLK Hub, and the Summer Dance Fest Series during the months of July through August.

“From enjoying the pier’s scenic backdrop, to Liberty State Park’s view of the Manhattan skyline, to the MLK evening celebration, mixed with the finest local musicians, this will be an exciting time to be in Jersey City,” said Mayor Healy. “Residents and visitors don’t have to spend a lot of money on vacations and travel far for a fun-filled summer.
