HCCC President Chris Reber: Building Upon the Success of the First 150 Days
November 26, 2018, Jersey City, NJ – As a rule, the first 150 days set the tone and pace of a presidency and often indicate priorities that will be pursued. Recently, Dr. Chris Reber marked the 150th day of his term as president of Hudson County Community College (HCCC). In the five-plus months since taking office, he has been moving forward nonstop with optimism and enthusiasm.
Since July, Reber has conducted a “listening tour†that has involved more than 100 meetings with faculty, staff, students and community leaders and yielded an understanding of those constituents’ perspectives, concerns, hopes and ideas. He has been preparing for collective bargaining negotiations and working with faculty and staff to ensure for the College’s successful reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Hudson County Community College Announces Spring 2018 Full-Time Dean’s List
JERSEY CITY, N.J. / October 2, 2018 — Hudson County Community College announced that 521 full-time students were eligible for the Dean’s List for the Spring 2018 semester.
Full-time degree students who have completed all Academic Foundations and ESL courses and have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and no ‘F’ grades in the current semester are eligible for the Dean’s List.

July 11, 2018, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) is offering college-level classes for the upcoming Fall semester on weekday evenings in Harrison, Kearny, Union City, and Bayonne. The classes will provide residents with flexibility and ease in taking basic and required courses in a variety of subjects close to home at convenient times. Hudson County Community College Welcomes New President
July 5, 2018, Jersey City, NJ – On Monday, July 2, 2018, Christopher Reber, Ph.D., began serving as president of Hudson County Community College (HCCC). He succeeds Glen Gabert, Ph.D. who was president at the College for 25 years and retired June 30.

Dr. Reber comes to HCCC from Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) near Pittsburgh, PA, where he served as president from July 2014 to June 2018. Prior to CCBC, Dr. Reber was the Executive Dean of Venango College of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he was the chief executive and academic officer. His career also includes 18 years at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, where he served on the senior management team as the Chief Development, University Relations, and Alumni Affairs Officer during a successful $50 million capital campaign; and Chief Student Affairs Officer during a period of major college growth.

Hudson County Community College Presents Third Annual Get LGBTQIA Conference on April 20
Free conference to examine issues facing LGBTQIA community
April 17, 2018 / Jersey City, NJ – As issues facing the LGBTQIA community evolve, individuals learn to embrace self-expression, foster inclusiveness, and unify communities through understanding and acceptance.
On Friday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Hudson County Community College (HCCC) will present the Third Annual LGBTQIA Conference. Entitled “Back 2 Basics,†the conference will be held in the HCCC Library Building – 71 Sip Ave in Jersey City, and will address a multitude of topics facing the LGBTQIA community.
Part of the College’s celebration of LBGTQIA Month, “Back 2 Basics†is presented by the Office of Student Activities and the HCCC Georgia Brooks Stonewall Project. The conference is open to students, faculty, and the general public. Tickets are free, but registration is preferred.
Several workshops are designed to engage participants in the LBGTQIA community and encourage others, especially individuals who are part of the historically marginalized voices. Now In its eighth year, the Series provides subscribers with the opportunity to enjoy superior luncheon dining experiences on Friday afternoons from February 23 through April 20.
