Hudson County Community College Offers Associate in Arts Degree with Theatre Arts Option

  New program being coordinated by veteran actor, playwright/screenwriter, producer and professor, Joseph Gallo

Hudson County community College Logo November 29, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – Students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree or higher in  theatre arts may now begin their journey by earning an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts with a Theatre Option from Hudson County Community College.

The new program has been designed to provide students with a broad-based liberal arts curriculum and core theatre options, including Introduction to Acting, Introduction to Theatre, Introduction to Drama, Contemporary Drama, Acting II, and Intro To Playwriting, and will prepare them for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Hudson County Community College is arranging for articulation agreements with New Jersey City University and Kean University, amongst others, thus allowing for credits earned at HCCC to be transferred.

HCCC President Dr. Glen Gabert said the Theatre Arts program is being coordinated by Joseph Gallo, a seasoned theatre professional with a diverse background. Hudson County Community College to Hold Gala Fundraiser on December 6

 PSE&G to receive the Foundation’s Distinguished Service Award at this year’s event.

November 29, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College Foundation will hold the largest and most festive of its annual fundraisers — the 15th Annual Holiday Gala — at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, December 6, 2012 at the HCCC Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center ‑ 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City. Proceeds from the event are dedicated to scholarships for deserving students, faculty development programs, and the College’s physical expansion.

Hudson County Community College Vice President for Development Joseph Sansone said that PSE&G will be the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes organizations and individuals for their work on behalf of the College and the people of Hudson County. “The Junction” Project in Jersey City -Grand Opening Ceremony

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy will conduct a grand opening ceremony for “The Junction” project at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 29th at the intersections of Communipaw, Garfield, Summit, Randolph and Arlington Avenues. The project incorporates many benefits to the local community by enhancing the travel experience, creating new open space, improving pedestrian and bicycle safety, and promoting smart growth.

City of Bayonne -Free Parking in Lots in December for Non-Commercial Vehicles

           Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that there will be free parking for the entire month of December in all Bayonne Parking Utility lots for non-commercial vehicles.  The program will be in effect through Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Parking charges in the lots will resume for non-commercial vehicles on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. The Mayor said, “The free parking program will encourage people to visit Bayonne and do their holiday shopping in local stores.”  Smith thanked the Bayonne Parking Utility for supporting the annual free parking policy again this year.  He said, “I would like to commend the Parking Utility for offering free parking again to non-commercial vehicles in the lots during the 2012 holiday season.” Smith continued, “I would like to encourage everyone who lives or works in Bayonne to spread the word about this holiday season parking lot program.” Continue reading City of Bayonne -Free Parking in Lots in December for Non-Commercial Vehicles →

Hudson County Community College Foundation Art Collection to Celebrate Four Union City Women Artists at Nov. 30 Reception

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / November 19, 2012 — The Hudson County Community College Foundation (HCCC) Art Collection will host a celebration marking the opening of a permanent art exhibit, “Artwork of the Nuns at the Blue Chapel in Union City, 1930s-1990s,” at the HCCC North Hudson Higher Education Center (NHHEC) on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. Hudson County Community College Celebrates Kick-Off of Second Phase of Construction of New Learning Resource Center & Academic Building

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / October 26, 2012 — On Tuesday, Oct. 23, Hudson County Community College (HCCC) hosted a ceremony marking the beginning of the second phase of construction of its new Learning Resource Center & Academic Building Ground was broken for the new Learning Resources Center & Academic Building in November of 2011, and since then the site has been excavated and the foundation constructed.

HCCC President Dr. Glen Gabert Observes 20th Anniversary

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / October 11, 2012 — In September, Hudson County Community College celebrated a special anniversary: President Gabert’s 20-year anniversary as president. In his two decades of service, the College has grown through significant expansion of its facilities, increasing enrollments and partnerships with colleges and organizations to bring more services to College students and local residents and businesses.

September 4, 2012, Jersey City, NJ – The renowned Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program at Hudson County Community College (HCCC) is now offering a specialized option for students seeking an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. Beginning with this term, students at HCCC may pursue an A.A.S. Culinary Arts degree with a specialization in Baking & Pastry that will prepare them for immediate entry-level employment in the foodservice/hospitality industry.
