Honored for achievements in sport:  Alexandra Ostendorf (left) was honored at the recent statewide celebration for National Girls and Women in Sport Day at Seton Hall University.  Mayor Jimmy Davis (right) presented her with a citation in recognition of her success in soccer at Bayonne High School.  In the coming academic year, she will play soccer for Drew University.

 

Mayor Jimmy Davis presented a citation to Alexandra Ostendorf in recognition of her achievements in sport. She represented Bayonne and was honored at the statewide celebration for National Girls and Women in Sport Day at Seton Hall University on Sunday, February 4, 2018.  The National Girls and Women in Sport Day was sponsored by the Women’s Sports Foundation; the National Women’s Law Center; the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition; and Girls, Inc. Bantry Boy’s in Concert Musical Monday’s at the Museum Bayonne

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Bantry Boys, a Bayonne-based Irish musical group, will have a concert at the Bayonne Community Museum on Monday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. The event is free. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

The concert is part of the Musical Mondays series which is sponsored by the City of Bayonne, the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone, and Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G).

The Bayonne Community Museum is located at 229 Broadway (9th Street).

The Bantry Boys are an Irish-American folk band that plays at numerous events each year in New Jersey and elsewhere. The Bantry Boys can sing numerous Irish favorites.

Over the years, the Bantry Boys have played with such popular Irish musicians as the Wolfe Tones, Paddy Reilly, the Furey Brothers, and Makem & Clancy. They have toured in Ireland on several occasions, and have been featured performers on various cruise ships.

The musical group’s name comes from Ireland. Bantry Bay is a body of water by West Cork in Ireland. The town of Bantry is at the head of the bay. It is a busy market town and fishing port.

The Bantry Boys’ concert is part of the Musical Mondays at the Museum series, Other Musical Mondays at the Museum concerts will include: members of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra on March 12; Party of Five on April 9; and Rich Casella on May 7.

HUDSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE- INDIE FEMALE FILMMAKERS March 2 through April 28

The Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with director Delaney Buffett has put together an all-star lineup of short films by female filmmakers which will be screened at the Dineen Hull Gallery Atrium. Screenings will take place between March 2 and April 28.Film shorts include First Match, Kid Warrior: The Xiuhtezcatl Martinez Story, New Deep South: Kayla, Run Mama Run and The Spring. All of the short films will be shown on each of the screening dates (see below).

The screenings are open to the general public and admission is FREE. Films will be screened at the Dineen Hull Gallery Atrium at 71 Sip Avenue, 6th Floor.

Hoboken Art in the Park Registration Begins March 5th

Art in the Park is a 6 week creative arts program for toddlers ages 1 to 4 years old. There are eight 6-week sessions. Sessions take place on different days, in different parks, at different times.

Project Reflects Castle Lanterra Properties’ Long-Term Investment in City’s Resurgence 

 BAYONNE, N.J., Feb. 14, 2018 – Mayor James Davis, city officials and more than 300 residents and families joined Castle Lanterra Properties (CLP) at a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the newly-renovated resident clubhouse at Harbor Pointe. The 544-unit luxury apartment community, situated on 7.4 acres along the waterfront, is the initial development and centerpiece of the 420-acre man-made Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor.
 

CLP’s extensive remodel transformed the recreational facility into a multi-media, multi-purpose clubhouse designed to meet the needs of the community’s evolving resident demographic. A two-story jungle gym is the focal point of the space, which also includes a full-service kitchen, children’s library, media room, gaming center and fitness center with separate yoga/spin studio.
