Governor Phil Murphy has announced that New Jersey restaurants can resume indoor dining on Friday, September 4.  They must follow various state guidelines, due to the Coronavirus.

Restaurant patrons will be required to wear masks unless they are eating, under the age of two, or have a health issue.

Restaurant staff members will be required to wear masks.

Tables must be spaced at least six feet apart.

Restaurants will be required to follow enhanced sanitation procedures.

Guests must place orders only at a table, and staffers must bring food and beverages only to tables.

Patrons will be barred from walking around while eating.

Seating will be limited to a maximum of eight customers per table — unless everyone is from an immediate family or the same household.

Reservations will be encouraged for greater control of customer traffic. Customers will be required to provide a phone number if making a reservation.

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today the new Department of Recreation and Youth Development is offering small group in-person activities and virtual events while adhering to the New Jersey Department of Health “Guidance for Sports Activities”.  In an effort to improvise traditional recreational programming, the city has been providing “pop-up” activities for small groups in 8 parks throughout the city while also moving professional development programming to online.

The NLN Pre-Admission Exam evaluates the academic ability of nursing majors to identify the most qualified candidates among those seeking admittance into nursing schools nationwide. BAYONNE COVID-19 UPDATE FOR AUGUST 27, 2020

Under the direction of Mayor Davis, OEM provides weekly updates on the status of Bayonne in relation to the COVID-19 Health Emergency.

Mayor Davis has advised us that an 82yr male Bayonne resident has recently passed away from Coronavirus-related illness.  The Mayor extends his sympathy, on behalf of the entire city, to the family of our late neighbor.

Bayonne Residents CURRENTLY Positive – 16*

OEM UPDATE:  To date, 1,338 Bayonne residents have tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of where that test was given. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 76 Bayonne residents have passed away due to Coronavirus-related illnesses.  The Bayonne Department of Health continues to advise residents that have recently taken a COVID-19 test to be sure to answer their phones for our Contact Tracers and Dept of Health Staff.  These conversations are vital in helping to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. 

BMC UPDATE: Currently, there are no COVID positive Bayonne residents inpatients at Bayonne Medical Center. 

BOARD OF ED UPDATE: Open parking for residents in all Bayonne Public Schoolyards is ending.  All vehicles must be removed from schoolyards by September 1, 2020.

Project was a Focus and Priority for Councilman Michael Yun before Passing

 Mayor Steven M. Fulop announced today that the city is moving forward on a project that was a priority for the late Ward D Councilman, Michael Yun, prior to his passing. The city will engage in a public/private partnership to construct a new 7-story residential building with views of the NYC Skyline, in addition to a multi-level parking garage with 400 public parking spaces to replace the existing smaller, and often overflowing, surface lot. The project will be heard at the Planning Board meeting on August 25th, and will serve as both community and business district parking for The Heights.

Two weeks after Mayor Steven M. Fulop introduced the CY 2020 municipal budget – which once again includes no tax increases – the City Council passed the $658 million budget plan 6-2-1 at a special budget meeting Tuesday, citing the Mayor’s aggressive approach to help Jersey City overcome $70 million in expenses and revenue losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2020 Summer Sounds by the Bay music series at DiDomenico-16th Street Park. 

On Wednesday, September 2, at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting, the Large Flowerheads will bring to life the musical sights and sounds of the groovy ’60s. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Sonny & Cher, The Mamas & The Papas, Tom Jones, The Monkees, Jefferson Airplane, and so many more! Note: This event was originally scheduled for August 12, but was postponed.

Mayor Jimmy Davis and the Division of Recreation have announced the remaining evening scheduled for the 2020 Summer Sounds by the Bay music series at DiDomenico-16th Street Park. 

Each performance will be begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. and will held at the amphitheater on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park, which is located between Avenue A and Newark Bay.

Please bring your own chair. Chairs will not be given out at the park.

Social distancing will be enforced at all times.

Face coverings are required when social distancing of six feet between individuals cannot be maintained, except where doing so would inhibit that individual’s health, or when an individual is in extreme heat. (Set forth by the New Jersey Department of Health).
