 Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that a citywide clean-up called Spring Cleaning Day will take place on Saturday, April 16. Smith said, “During the winter months, litter accumulated under ice and snow. Now that the snow and ice have melted, it is time for each residential and commercial neighborhood to do a good spring cleaning. The goals of the day cleaning the city, educating people against littering, and encouraging everyone to take responsibility”
Each of Bayonne’s eleven public elementary schoolyards and the schoolyard of All Saints Catholic Academy will serve as a neighborhood supply center for the clean-up effort. Residents and businesses interested in participating should report to the nearest schoolyard before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, to receive directions and pick up supplies for cleaning up neighborhoods. Participants will receive a list of suggested areas to clean. JERSEY CITY, N.J. / April 14, 2011 – Hudson County Community College’s course schedules for the Summer and Fall 2011 terms are now available on campus and in Adobe Acrobat format at the College’s web site, http://www.hccc.edu/schedule.

Summer Session one will begin on Wednesday, May 18 and end on Thursday, June 30. Classes for Summer Session II will begin on Tuesday, July 5, and end on Monday, Aug. 15. Fall courses will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
Registration for Summer and Fall is currently underway. Eligible students may register online at the College’s MyHudson portal, https://myhudson.hccc.edu.

Hoboken, NJ) Hoboken can boast about a lot of things – it’s the birthplace of Frank Sinatra and the first baseball game ever played was in Hoboken – and now Hoboken celebrates another outstanding achievement, Muller’s Hoboken Rockets hockey team’s 2010 Ice House Championship won by an outstanding team of local residents from many walks of life.
 Roger J. Muller, Jr. of Muller Insurance serves as team captain who led Muller’s Hoboken Rockets to win First Place in the 2010 Level 8 Ice House Championship  with 7-wins, 1-tie and 0-losses. The Muller-Rockets is one of six hockey teams Roger J. Muller, Jr. runs and he often interchanges and overlaps players to offer them more playing opportunities. They, in turn, win championships. Muller proudly displays the 2010 championship trophy in his Muller’s Insurance office at 930 Washington Street in Hoboken, where it holds a place of honor next to the 50 other hockey trophies Muller’s hockey teams have won since he founded the teams twenty years ago. NEWARK, N.J. — April 14, 2011 For the past 2 years as families prepared for the Easter and Passover holidays, the NJ Poison Control Center noted an increase in calls related to children getting into cleaning products in the home or a relative’s medication. Poison Control Center experts offer the following safety tips on food poisoning/preparation, cleaning product and medication safety, and holiday decorating products.

·        Always wash hands with soap and water before and after handling raw foods.
·        Perishable foods like raw/cooked meats, poultry, and seafood should be kept refrigerated. If left at room temperature for 2 hours or more, they should be discarded.
·        Symptoms of food poisoning include: nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, chills and fever, diarrhea, and weakness. Symptoms can occur 1-8 hours after eating “toxic†food.

Playing a Comedic Bombshell with a Grown Up Harry Potter

 Harry Potter’s all grown up and nobody knows that better than Emmy-winning actress Tammy Blanchard of Bayonne who shows off her comic side as a ditsy bombshell trying to seduce Daniel Radcliffe eight shows a week in the Broadway revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” Known to audiences for playing dramatic roles in “Rabbit Hole” with Nicole Kidman and “Sybil” with Jessica Lange (among others) Blanchard turns to her comedic instincts and pulls out all the stops as a Broadway comedienne.
Blanchard’s repertoire of serious Broadway, TV and film roles includes  an Emmy Award winning performance as young Judy Garland in “Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows,” and a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut as Louise in “Gypsy” opposite Bernadette Peters. She played an unstable young woman trying to find herself in “Bella” and her portrayal of the title role in the remake of “Sybil” with Jessica Lange is so emotionally searing, she rips the heart right out of your chest. Elizabeth Taylor, beautiful, talented two time Academy Award winner has died at 79 years old of congestive heart failure.
Ms. Taylor was pronounced dead at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with her children by her side. Her son Michael Wilding best summed up his mother’s life by saying, “My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love. Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world.â€
The sultry, talented actress had made over 60 films, was married eight times (twice to Richard Burton) and had 4 children.
In her later years she championed the cause to find a cure for AIDs.
She became Michael Jackson’s closet friend, and although personal trajedy and health issues plagued her most of her adult life she carried her self with dignity and strength.
She was part of an era of hollywood that produced many showbiz icons like Frank Sinatra, Henry Fonda, Rosalind Russel, Marilyn Monroe,
Rock Hudson,Cary Grant and others.

On March 8th, on a visit to my cell phone provider to pay my bill, the young man behind the counter handed me my receipt and said with a smile, “Happy Woman’s Day!†Not sure I was hearing correctly, I naturally replied, “Wha?†He repeated, “Happy Woman’s Day! You know, March being Women’s History Month, today is National Women’s Day.â€
Feeling rather guilty for not remembering March is Women’s History Month, I began to think about all the great women I have admired. Then I realized, Women’s History Month is not just about thinking nice thoughts about Eleanor Roosevelt (whom I greatly admire); it’s about honoring women everywhere who are out there every day contributing to the fabric of our society.
