Andrew Perera opened his café and restaurant in Bayonne in August 2009, ten years after he met and designed a vegan menu for President Bill Clinton. At Andrew’s in Bayonne, Perera serves his customers the same fare he designed for the former president — vegan soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees and desserts.

He serves a few meat dishes too.

“Andrew’s is the only restaurant serving organically healthy cuisine in this Bayonne area,” Perera says, sitting outside his café on a sunny weekday afternoon. “A lot of people come from Staten Island, East Rutherford, Linden, Queens – I have people coming here because the food is healthy. (HOBOKEN, NJ) Scarier than anything Hollywood could dream up, the predatory lionfish (Pterois miles and P. volitans) feeds from sun-up to sundown, and can eat prey up to half its body weight. Lionfish consume commercially, recreationally, and ecologically important species; and dense lionfish populations can devour more than 460,000 fish per acre, per year. On heavily invaded sites, lionfish have reduced fish populations by up to 90 percent and continue to consume the Atlantic Ocean’s native fish at unsustainable rates.

In an attempt to eradicate, or at least decrease the growing lionfish population in the Atlantic Ocean – where the lionfish has no predators to keep it from over-populating– the National Atmospheric and Oceanic Association (NOAA) along with other groups and independent scuba divers have taken on the mission to hunt down the lionfish before it takes too big a bite out of the Atlantic’s fish habitats and ecosystems. Area Street Closures Take Effect Tuesday, August 19th

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop and the Municipal Council announced today that street closures as part of the plan to convert a portion of Newark Avenue into a pedestrian plaza to enhance the City’s vibrant downtown commercial and cultural district will go into effect next week.

Beginning Tuesday, August 19, 2014, Newark Avenue from Grove Street to Barrow Street and Erie Street from Newark Avenue to Bay Street will be closed from 3 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday and between 12 a.m. and midnight, Saturday and Sunday for the preservation of the public’s safety and welfare at the newly created pedestrian plaza. Jeresey City Mayor Steven M. Fulop and At-Large Councilman Daniel Rivera announced today that they will present an ordinance to the City Council at next week’s meeting to name the new West District Police precinct in honor of slain Detective Melvin Santiago.

Mayor Steven M. Fulop and At-Large Councilman Daniel Rivera announced today that they will present an ordinance to the City Council at next week’s meeting to name the new West District Police precinct in honor of slain Detective Melvin Santiago.

An officer in the City’s West District, Det. Santiago, 23, was an and was on patrol when he was shot and killed in the line of duty on July 13, 2014 while responding to a call of an armed robbery at the Walgreens on Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. The business, run by Muller’s grandchildren Roger J. Muller, Jr. and Erika Muller is thriving, and on May 29th, his great-granddaughter Kelsey Muller earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and graduated Cum Laude from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. On Wednesday, July 23rd reality TV Celebrity Teresa Guidice appeared at Jersey City’s popular restaurant VB3 to promote her new line of wine Faberlini.

Ms. Guidice  of The Real  Housewives of New Jersey fame has also  written 4  cookbooks of which 3 hit the NY Times Best Selling Author list. The popular reality star  has her own hair care line called “Milania” named after her daughter and has also appeared on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice.

She can be seen in this seasons The Real  Housewives of New Jersey airing on Sunday nights at 8pm on the Bravo channel.
