The Hoboken Mural Arts Council is announcing a call for submissions for a mural project located at 1312 Adams Street with the theme “diversity, inclusion, and community.” The Arts Council, which includes Geri Fallo (Hoboken Cultural Affairs), Albert Barsky (Barsky Gallery), Elizabeth Ndoye (hob’art co-operative gallery), and Justine Uva (Urban Arts), was recently established by Mayor Zimmer to provide guidance and art expertise for a mural project approved by the Planning Board.

Hudson County Community College Offers Rare Opportunity for Artists to Draw with a Renowned Anatomy Artist

Hudson County Community College Hosting Job Fair

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Division of Non-Traditional Programs, in partnership with the College’s Division of Cultural Affairs, will host a drawing workshop with Said Bouftass on Thursday evening, September 14, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The event will be held in the HCCC Benjamin J. Dineen, III and Dennis C. Hull Gallery, which is located on the top floor of the College’s Library Building at 71 Sip Avenue in Jersey City – just across the street from the PATH Transit Center. The event is being sponsored by CarePoint Health and Hudson County Community College’s Career Development Center, and the Office of Student Activities.  Authentic Moroccan refreshments will be served, and there is no charge for admission. NJ TURNPIKE INTERCHANGE 14A CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

NJ Turnpike 14A Construction Project
 
 
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
 
Toll Plaza
  • East side (entering 14A): renovation of existing Toll Utility Building continues.
Ramps between the Toll Plaza and the Hudson County Extension (HCE)
  • During the evening of Friday, 08/25/17, asphalt resurfacing will be performed on the ramp from the westbound Hudson County Extension to the Toll Plaza (Ramp ET). Minor traffic impacts are expected. Work will be supported by State Police. 
  • During the evenings of 08/28/17 and 08/29/17, final striping (painting) will be performed on all of the ramps entering and exiting Interchange 14A to the Hudson County Extension. No traffic impacts are expected. Work will be supported by State Police.
Avenue E / Proposed Roundabout
  • New roadway construction on Avenue E between 51st Street and 53rd Street continues.
  • New bridge construction activities continue.
  • Northbound Avenue E has been temporarily reduced to a single lane of traffic, 52nd Street to the Toll Plaza. It is anticipated that two lanes will be reopened by 09/01/17.
Connector Bridge (Bridge from the Toll Plaza to Port Jersey Boulevard)
  • Traffic was shifted onto the new Connector Bridge in a two-way temporary traffic pattern. Please CLICK HERE for graphic.
  • Pedestrian usage of the bridge for access to and from Port Jersey Boulevard continues to be prohibited. Please CLICK HERE for shuttle bus pamphlet.
Route 440 and Pulaski Street Intersection / Jughandle
  • Ramp roadway construction continues.
  • Ramp structure construction to southbound Route 440 continues.

Hudson County Community College Offers QuickBooks Certification Course

Hudson County Community College Offers QuickBooks Certification Course.  Become a QuickBooks Certified User with Hudson County Community College! This national certification will benefit bookkeepers, accountants, and financial professionals. This two course certification prep program, which is broken up into Beginners and Advanced, prepares students to use the product and become certified.  In Beginners, students will explore the basics of QuickBooks including creating companies, working with vendors and customers, banking, and customization.  No prior experience is required for Beginners. Advanced will cover inventory, payroll, and the accounting cycle, and starts in January 2018.  Register for both Beginners and Advanced at the same time and receive a 10% discount on Advanced.

Classes are held on Saturdays from October 7th until December 9th, and take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuition is $439 for each course and $834 if you register for both at the same time.  The cost includes the textbook, practice test, certification exam and one retake.  Classes will take place at the Journal Square campus. All events are free and open to the public.  14A Interchange project next three weeks
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
