family-night-out.jpgSuperintendent of Schools, Dr. Patricia L. McGeehan accepts the first two tickets from Mrs. Joan H. Rosen, Director of Music and Art for the Bayonne Public Schools for this year’s “Family Night Out.”  This innovative event for the Bayonne Public Schools combines what was formerly known as Parents Night Out with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players.

The program features ten musicians from the orchestra, including Bayonne resident and New Jersey Symphony percussionist, David Fein.

This year’s program, entitled “Children’s Tales through Music,” consists of threepopular tales:  “Peter and the Wolf” by Sergei Prokofiev; “The Princess and the Pea” by Edvard Greig; and a World Premier of “Cinderella” by Frank Foerster of the New Jersey Symphony.  This concert is part of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra REACH (Resources for Education and Community Harmony) Program.              There will be Bayonne High School student percussionists performing along with the symphony as well as student and faculty narrators.  Dr. McGeehan urges everyone to come and bring the entire family for an evening of children’s tales told through music and story. Please note that the program is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the Bayonne High School Alexander X. O’Connor Auditorium, 669 Avenue A,  followed by a Meet the Artists Reception catered by the Bayonne High School Culinary Arts students.  Limited tickets for this free program are available to families.  They may be obtained by contacting the schools or from Mrs. Joan H. Rosen, Director of Music and Art at 201-858-5883.
