Artists’ Advocate-Meredith Lippman, Program Development Specialist for Hudson County’s Office of Cultural Affairs Bridges Artists and Community

Meredith Lippman Artists' Advocate  Artist Meredith Lippman seems the perfect fit for her position as Program Development Specialist for the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs/Tourism Development. Lippman empathizes with the artists she advocates for and she works diligently to help them connect with the Hudson community and grow their careers through workshops, newsletters and updates on venues where they can exhibit works.

Hudson’s Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs provides advisory services, technical assistance, grant programs, audience development initiatives, artist round tables and networking events for artists in the community. The Office also hosts tours and lectures on Hudson’s history, promotes historic preservation and presents events that celebrate Hudson’s cultural diversity. Joining Lippman on staff are Eileen Gaughan and Robert Kakolewski, and director William LaRosa. The First Annual Bayonne Arts and Music Festival was held on Friday, June 14th, 2013.
Over a thousand plus people came out to view the Art Exhibits at the Bayonne Museum.
There were also Outdoor Art Demonstrations, Live music and outdoor dining by participating restaurants from the area.
The Bayonne Arts and Music Festival was presented in conjunction with
Bayonne Mayor Mark Smith, the Bayonne City Council and the Bayonne Arts Circle

A year ago, artist Fermin Mendoza of West New York decided he would paint a portrait every day of people he reached out to in person and on the Internet. Taking their pictures or having them email their pics, Mendoza used the photos as the basis for a series of portraits – 183 to be exact – in the project he calls “artists/models/others” opening this week at LITM Bar, Restaurant, Art & Video Gallery on Newark Avenue in Jersey City. Applications Available for Art Exhibit at Museum During Broadway Festival

The Art Circle of Bayonne announced that applications are available for the next art exhibit at the CITY OF BAYONNE SEALBayonne Community Museum. The exhibit is scheduled to open on Friday, June 14. It will run through Friday, June 21. The opening night of the exhibit will be part of an arts festival that will take place outdoors and in various interiors on Broadway in the 9th Street area. Details of the festival will be announced. An opening reception for the artists, their guests, and the general public will take place on June 14 at the museum, 229 Broadway, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The art exhibit is open to members of the Art Circle of Bayonne. Membership applications for non-members are available on the entry form. There is a $10 entrance fee for this show. Art submissions must be framed, wired, and otherwise ready to hang. The artist’s name and title of the artwork must appear on the back of each piece with the provided show label. Eligible media for the show include two-dimensional work for sixty artists. Each participating artist will have one panel to exhibit his or her art. A workable space of 42 by 48 inches will be provided, with no work displayed on the bottom 32 inches of the panel. Each artist will be responsible for hanging his or her own work. Hooks will be provided. Gallery workers will be on hand to assist each artist. All art, including sold pieces, must remain on display for the duration of the show, and signed out on Saturday, June 22. Applications Available for April Art Exhibit at Bayonne Museum

MUST BE A MEMEBER OFART CIRCLE OF BAYONNE

OPEN TO ALL ARTISTS FROM ALL AREAS

            The Art Circle of Bayonne announced that applications are available for artists to exhibit their work April 13 to 19, 2013 at the Bayonne Community Museum.

The April show will display the following types of art: photography, mixed media, oil paintings, acrylics, and watercolors.  Limited space will be available for three-dimensional art. All work submitted must belong to one of the foregoing categories. There will be an entrance fee of $10 per artist, payable to the Art Circle of Bayonne. Participation will be limited to sixty artists. Applications will be available Monday through Friday, except holidays, at the Bayonne Recreation Division, Room 13, at City Hall, 630 Avenue C.  The deadline for applications is Thursday, March 28. Applications will also be available by e-mailing info.artcircle@yahoo.com.

            Participation in the exhibit is open to members of the Art Circle of Bayonne.  It is not necessary to be a Bayonne resident to join the organization.  Membership in the Art Circle is available for $25 per year.  To join the Art Circle, please send an e-mail to info.artcircle@yahoo.com.

            The opening reception for the April art show will take place on Saturday, April 13, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.

This will be the second art show at the museum in 2013.  Other events will be scheduled throughout the year.  Details will be announced.

 JERSEY CITY, N.J. / February 26, 2013 — Hudson County Community College Foundation will present another segment in “Arts Talk Series” on Friday morning, March 1, 2013 when the very accomplished and productive artist Mark Beard appears. The event will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Follett Room of the College’s Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center at 161 Newkirk Street in Jersey City — just two blocks from the Journal Square PATH Station. The event is FREE and open to the entire community.

 Born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1956, Mr. Beard has worked in many media. His prints, paintings, sculptures and handcrafted books have been exhibited throughout the world and are included in collections at the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston, MA), the Wadsworth Atheneum (Hartford, CT), The Whitney Museum of American Art (New York City), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City), the Museum of Modern Art (New York City), Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München (Munich, Germany), Albertina (Vienna, Austria), at Harvard, Princeton and Yale Universities, and at Hudson County Community College (NJ). SILVERMAN AND MAJESTIC THEATRE CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATION present “Margaret Murphy: Dollar Store Divas,” curated by Brendan Carroll. The exhibition presents a series of acrylic and watercolor paintings on paper. Murphy draws inspiration from her native Baltimore and her adopted hometown of Jersey City, with its diversity, blue-collar neighborhoods, and dollar stores.

For the last decade, Margaret Murphy has developed her own genre of portraiture: sentimental, pensive, abstract, and matter-of-fact. Murphy’s “sitters” are a collection of mass-produced figurines that she purchases in 99¢ stores. Bayonne’s Art Circle Exhibit’s Opening Reception Postponed Until Monday, February 11, at Bayonne Community Museum

 

            The Art Circle of Bayonne announced that the opening reception for its February art exhibit at the Bayonne Community Museum has been moved from Friday evening, February 8, to Monday evening, February 11, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The event was postponed due to the weather.

  The museum is located at the northwest corner of 9

th Street and Broadway.

  This exhibit will include watercolors, photography, acrylics, oil paintings, and mixed media.

             Due to the storm, there will no exhibit hours over the weekend. Following opening night on February 11, the exhibit will be open to the public on the following days:

  Tuesday, February 12, through Friday, February 15, from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.

            All exhibiting artists are members of the Art Circle of Bayonne.

  It is not necessary to be a Bayonne resident to join the organization.

  Membership in the Art Circle is available for $25 per year.

            Museum visitors are encouraged to use mass transit.

  The Broadway Bus stops outside the building.

  The Hudson Bergen Light Rail stops a block away at the 8

th Street Station, which is located on West 8

th Street between Broadway and Avenue C.

  Light Rail connects with the PATH system at Hoboken Terminal, and at Pavonia-Newport and Exchange Place PATH stations in Jersey City.

The Art Circle of Bayonne announced that the opening reception for its next art exhibit will take place on Friday, February 8, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., at the Bayonne Community Museum.  The museum is located at the northwest corner of 9th Street and Broadway.  This exhibit will include watercolors, photography, acrylics, oil paintings, and mixed media.  The opening night event will include a demonstration of charcoal sketching by artist Tuan Tran, the owner of Bee’s Art Studio.  Mayor Mark A.
