HELP UNDER-PRIVILEGED CHILDREN, THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

The Jersey City Police Department, East District, is preparing for their 13th Annual Childrenâ€™s Christmas Party. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 15, 2007, at P.S. 4 located on Bright and Grand Streets, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Unwrapped childrenâ€™s toys and donations will be accepted until December 14, 2007. Please drop off gifts at the East District, 207 7th Street, or pick-up arrangements can be made through Officer Dina Reilly at 201-547-5470, Mon-Fri, 8:00-4:00, after hours please contact Officer Frank Molina at 201-481-7673. Donations can be made by check to â€œEast District Toy Drive.â€

Thanks to the generosity of the community, last yearâ€™s event was a tremendous success. Last year â€œSantaâ€ and his police officers distributed several hundred gifts to under-privileged children residing within the East District.

Your contribution is an investment in the future of our children and our community is greatly appreciative of your generosity.

Rock, jazz, blues, hip-hop, country and everything in between has been recorded at Hobokenâ€™s famed music recording studio (Water Music Recorders) over the past twenty-seven years. Music legends and international stars like Dave Mathews, the Allman Brothers, Joey Ramone, Spyro Gyra, U2, Sarah McLachlan and even Nancy Sinatra have recorded at this residential music studio.

The creator behind this worldwide-known recording studio is Rob Grenoble, a musician in his own right who back in the late 1970â€™s and 1980â€™s played with a group called Cries. He was signed as a recording artist with RCA Records in 1989. But it was in 1980 when he created Water Music studio solely for his band to record that things really got interesting. No sooner did the recording studio get up and running, that Steve Fallon, the owner and visionary behind Maxwellâ€™sâ€“the famed rock club in Hobokenâ€”asked Rob to record a solo album for songwriter Chris Stamey (who still records at Water Music). The original studio was located at 201 Grand Street and before long, a line of extraordinary musicians like Yo La Tengo, Freedy Johnston, the Feelies, Chris Stamey, Marshall Crenshaw and dozens of other bands made Water Music their home.

Embankment Preservation Coalition Hosts Membership Drive & Celebration

Saturday, October 13 Resurrection School Gym (Holy Rosary complex)189 Brunswick St (at Sixth St) Noon to 4 pm.

Children’s Activities Tour of Gardens along Embankment/Displays/Music/Refreshments, see park designs and give your ideas.

An August ruling by the STB gave city, county, and state governments a second chance to acquire the Embankment on reasonable terms. The Embankment Preservation Coalition views this win as an inspiring example of citizen collaboration.

The Embankment Coalition would like those who have helped or are interested in helping to come andÂ celebrate!.

Â Honoring The Many Who Have Helped

Between 1 and 2 pm individuals will be honored who contributed to the STB Petition, including: Governor Jon Corzine, U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg, NJ State Senator Bernard F. Kenny, Jr., NJ State Assemblyman Louis M. Manzo, Hudson County Executive Thomas A. DeGise, Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, Council President Mariano Vega Jr. and Members of the Municipal Council, and the neighborhood associations and individual citizens who sent statements and letters of support to the STB.
