Jerramiah T. Healy and police officials displayed 65 firearms taken into custody today, including a dangerous machine gun pistol called a “Street Sweeper”, all of which were gathered during Day 1 of the city’s gun buyback program.
Dubbed Operation LifeSaver II, police officials were thrilled that 65 firearms were turned in to churches and city community centers that participated in the first of consecutive weekends where police give amnesty and cash to residents turning in firearms. The big catch during Saturday’s haul, a Mac 10 machine gun pistol and another semi-automatic handgun that was loaded with deadly hollow-point bullets.
