Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that a dining, entertainment, and classic car event on Lower Broadway has been scheduled for Saturday, October 24, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Broadway will be closed to traffic from 5th Street to Cottage Street, in order to accommodate the event. Participating restaurants will set up tables, chairs, and tents on the street.
In order to allow for event set-up on Saturday, October 24, the street-closing on Broadway will start at 10:30 a.m. Broadway will be closed until 5:30 p.m. that night, in order to provide time to remove dining furniture and equipment from the street.
No parking will be allowed on Broadway from 5th Street to Cottage Street from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., in order to provide space for the event, along with set-up and break-down activities.
The Bergen Point event will observe the mask requirements and social distancing guidelines established by the State of New Jersey.
This event will be the latest in a series to help highlight Bayonne’s restaurants and businesses in different parts of the city.

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that a Dine Out & Shop Out Event on Broadway has been scheduled for Thursday, October 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Broadway will be closed to traffic from 29thth Street to 32nd Street, in order to accommodate the event. Participating restaurants will set up tables, chairs, and tents on the street. The event will feature live music by David “Doc†Watson & Lisel Cox, and by Vinnie Ferrone.
In order to allow for event set-up, the street-closing on Broadway will start at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22. Broadway will be closed until 11:00 p.m. that night, in order to provide time to remove dining furniture and equipment from the street.
No parking will be allowed on Broadway from 29th Street to 32nd Street from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., in order to provide space for dining on the street. Parking will be available in the nearby lots off Broadway operated by the Bayonne Parking Utility.

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis issued a proclamation declaring October to be Distracted Driving Awareness Month in the City of Bayonne. This presentation was one of many events organized by safe driving advocate Pam O’Donnell. Four years ago, her husband and daughter died in an automobile crash. That tragedy has compelled her to speak out before a variety of audiences about the importance of safe driving and the consequences of highway deaths. She has spoken to audiences at churches, schools, and corporations. The proclamation refers to public education programs sponsored by the National Safety Council and the Catch You Later Foundation. Members of the Jersey City Police Department will join other Hudson County law enforcement agencies to raise money for the Special Olympics New Jersey by participating in the 37th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.
JCPD Officers will run through the Jersey City leg of the route carrying the “Flame of Hope,†which is escorted by more than 3,000 officers total through 26 communities, ultimately making its way to the lighting of the Special Olympics New Jersey cauldron at the Opening Ceremony.

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that outdoor dining and entertainment events on Uptown Broadway have been scheduled for Friday, October 9, and Thursday, October 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The event of Friday, October 9, will take place on Broadway from 41st Street to 45th Street, with a rain date of Saturday, October 10. Live music will be provided by Keith Borelli and Bennett Rhode.
The event of Thursday, October 15, will take place on Broadway from 33rd Street to 38th Street, with a rain date of Friday, October 16. Live music will be provided by Dave “Doc†Watson and Lisel Cox.
On both dine out nights, a portion Broadway will be closed to traffic in the area of each event, in order to accommodate the outdoor dining and entertainment.
Participating restaurants will set up tables, chairs, and tents on the street.
The event organizer is City Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski. The Council President said, “These special events are all about supporting local restaurants and small businesses during this trying time. We are happy to extend the success of our recent Downtown and Midtown dining events to our Uptown area.
Mayor Davis said, “I would like to thank Council President Ashe-Nadrowski and all participating businesses for planning these great events. We should all do whatever we can to support our local small business community.â€

In the event of inclement weather, the rain dates of Saturday, October 10, and Friday, October 16, would have the same hours and street closing details described above for Friday, October 9, and Thursday, October 15.

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis and father James Davis placed their completed ballots in the secure election drop box in front of City Hall at 630 Avenue C in Bayonne. Mayor Davis said, “My dad and I voted this morning. Please make sure you vote via the mail-in ballot. Once you have filled out your ballot completely, you can drop it at the designated secure ballot drop box located in front of City Hall.â€
