Hudson COunty Community College FoundationS 23rd ANNUAL HOLIDAY fUNDRAISING GALA

The Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Foundation’s Annual Holiday Gala – a virtual “Gala @ Home” – was held on (Thursday, December 3) at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the celebration will fund scholarships for deserving students, the Foundation Art Collection, faculty development, and the College’s physical expansion.

HCCC President, Dr. Chris Reber, and Dr. Nicholas Chiaravalloti, Vice President of External Affairs & Senior Counsel to the President, opened the online event with a welcoming toast at the College’s official Facebook page, www.facebook.com/hcccedu

Donors to the event received a basket filled with a gourmet dinner prepared by chefs of the award-winning HCCC Culinary Arts Institute. The baskets contain cold seafood, antipasto, assorted cheeses, breads and crackers, a two-entrée dinner, desserts and beverages. The dinner baskets are being picked up at the College.

Paul Dillon, HCCC Associate Dean of Business, Culinary Arts, and Hospitality Management, will be honored at this year’s celebration. As a result of his leadership, the Foundation Gala is recognized as one of the most spectacular and enjoyable events in Hudson County.

Hudson County Community College Invites Everyone to Hunker Down and Enjoy Art, Insightful Discussions, Plus Yoga and Art Classes

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Department of Cultural Affairs (DOCA) will host online events in December that highlight the visual arts, influential community members, and more.

The month begins with the HCCC Student Art Exhibit curated by Fine Arts Professor and Coordinator Laurie Riccadonna, and Computer Arts Coordinator and Professor Jeremiah Teipen. The event marks the end of the Fall semester and celebrates students’ creativity in their classes. The exhibition, which will be presented in the HCCC Benjamin J. Dineen III and Dennis C. Hull Gallery, may be viewed now through December 18 at https://www.flickr.com/photos/dineenhullgallery/albums/72157716927451048. The students’ Portfolio Presentations will be offered on Friday, December 18, 10 a.m. via Webex.

Mayor Fulop Appoints Elizabeth Castillo as Acting Director of the newly established Department of Finance

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop announces Elizabeth Castillo as the new Acting Director of the Department of Finance, established by the Mayor earlier this year to further develop fiscal policies and procedures for the benefit of Jersey City taxpayers. The new Acting Director will fill the position left vacant by the Department’s first-ever Director, John Metro, who was recently appointed the role of Acting Business Administrator by the Mayor.

Liz Castillo’s accounting career spans more than 21 years of combined experience in governmental, manufacturing, and managerial roles, during which time she also obtained state licensure as a Certified Municipal Financial Officer. As Acting Director, she will oversee five divisions within the Finance Department, including Management and Budget, Collections, Treasury and Debt Management, Accounts and Control, and Payroll.

Mayor Fulop to Swear in 25 new police officers

 Mayor Steven M. Fulop joined Public Safety Director James Shea, Police Director Tawana Moody, and Police Chief Michael Kelly to announce the promotion of 20 Captains, 20 Lieutenants, and 35 Sergeants in the Jersey City Police Department. These promotions achieve more diversity within the ranks, including the highest-ranking Hispanic female and highest-ranking African American female within the entire department.

The Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Foundation invites the community to participate in its Annual Holiday Gala. This year’s virtual “Gala @ Home” will take place on Thursday, December 3 at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the celebration will fund scholarships for deserving students, the Foundation Art Collection, faculty development, and the College’s physical expansion. Individual Dinner Tickets are $500 each. Full Scholarship Sponsorships are $4,800, and Partial Scholarship Sponsorships are $2,400. LIDL’S BAYONNE STORE HAS RIBBON CUTTING

Ribbon-Cutting at Grand Opening of Lidl’s Bayonne store:  Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis and City Council Members joined members of Lidl’s management for the ribbon-cutting at the store’s grand opening on November 18.  The German-based grocery chain’s regional offices are located now in the same structure as the Bayonne store, which is located at 20 Goldsborough Drive by Route 440.  The store was constructed on the former Military Ocean Terminal.  Pictured left to right behind the ribbon: Baxter Burnworth (Director of Real Estate, Lidl U.S.); Cal Trew (Manager, Bayonne Lidl store); Mayor Jimmy Davis; City Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski; Third Ward Council Member Gary LaPelusa; and First Ward Council Member Neil Carroll.

Resolution approved moving forward liberty science center high school

Mayor Fulop and Liberty Science Center Announce new Partnership with Hudson County to Create High School that will Reimagine Public Education

JERSEY CITY – Mayor Steven M. Fulop joins the Liberty Science Center (LSC) and Hudson County to announce an agreement by the Hudson County Board of Education of the Hudson County Schools of Technology to establish a unique public-private partnership for the creation of the new proposed Liberty Science High School, located within the new cutting-edge SciTech Scity.  The planned 30-acre innovation campus, a “mini city of the future”, will be a revolutionary technological hub for students, innovators, entrepreneurs, and scientists working together to create a community for learning and innovation.
