 Warning Phase Activated at 12:01 a.m. on 4/14/2012 and Ticketing Period to Commence on May 13, 2012

JERSEY CITY – Police Department officials announced today that an additional red light camera began its trial phase at 12:01 a.m. (midnight) on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Route 139/Hoboken Avenue. The camera, which is part of a New Jersey Department of Transportation program, will take video and photos of red-light violators.

The trial phase or “warning period” will last until 12:01 a.m. on May 13, 2012 during which violators will receive a written warning in the mail. After that, motorists cited for running the red light will receive an $85 citation. Meadowlands Racetrack Job Fair to Accept Resumes for Off-Track Wagering Jobs in Bayonne

Bayonne Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC will hold a job fair on Saturday, April 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Meadowlands Racetrack, Clubhouse Level, 50 State Route 120, in East Rutherford. Smith said, “At that time, New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC will be collecting resumes to meet its future staffing needs at the Winners off-track wagering (OTW) facility that will open Bayonne this summer. I would like to urge any Bayonne residents interested in working at Winners to present a resume at the racetrack next Saturday.” Smith continued, “The OTW is expected to provide more than 100 jobs. This is a great opportunity to get in on the beginning of a new business in Bayonne. I would like to thank New Meadowlands Racetrack LLC for offering these new employment opportunities in Bayonne.”

Bayonne Community Museum Opening Night April 13th, 2012

The opening reception  which ran from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  drew many Bayonne dignitaries,  residents, and family and friends of the  artists who participated.

Jersey City & Parks Coalition Win One of Three National Make A Difference Day Awards for Municipalities for “BIG DIG” Planting Project

Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and the Jersey City Parks Coalition announced today that the City of Jersey City and The Jersey City Parks Coalition have been awarded one of three national Make A Difference Day awards for municipalities for the collaborative project known as the “BIG DIG” that saw 18,000 tulip and daffodil bulbs planted across the city last October.

Jersey City officials and police department brass will be on hand to salute and send off 25 police officers and military veterans as they undertake the arduous task of running 600 miles to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The ceremonies, set to begin 10 am sharp on Monday, April 16, 2012 I at the Purple Heart Memorial in Journal Square, in Journal Square, launch the 25 participants in a five-state trek of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and finally North Carolina over a five day period. The runners themselves are comprised of Marine Corps veterans, Army veterans and police officers from Jersey City, Newark West New York, NJ State Police and Port Authority police, law enforcement agencies. Jersey City, NJ — April 11, 2012 — Councilman Steve Fulop testified today before the New Jersey Transit Authority on the issue of the Spectra Pipeline. Spectra has petition the New Jersey Transit Authority to ensure and expedite the sale of land that is necessary for the pipeline prior to the final federal approval of the project from the Federal Energy Regulation Commission which is expected at some point in mid summer.

“I am here today to remind the New Jersey Transit Authority that their mission is not to be a real estate broker, but to provide safe ways for commuters to ride public transportation, a premature a sale of property would be counter to NJ Transit’s mission in every way and counter to the best interest of residents of Jersey City” said Councilman Fulop. HCCC Fine Arts Students to Display Works in Gallery at Brennan Courthouse

JERSEY CITY, N.J. / April 11, 2012 — Hudson County Community College’s Fine Arts Department is currently exhibiting artwork of several students now through Monday, May 7, 2012. The exhibit is located at The Brennan Gallery, in the rotunda of the Justice William J. Brennan Jr. Courthouse, 583 Newark Avenue, Jersey City. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

A reception will be held for the artists on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
